Two things. #1, it's not watered down, it's parity.

#2, we're not close to the playoffs. We're 10 points out of the last divisional spot, and 8 of the last wild card spot. ANNNND we've played two more games than most of those teams. We're done.

Thank god Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel are both unbelievable.

theres 43 games left in the season i think. to say you can't make up 10 points is INSANE.

will they make them up no but 10 points with 43 games left isn't some crazy #. 18-20pts yeah they can't do that. there are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many conference games to be played btw. heck they still have what 3 games with the rangers

Was reading up a bit about the draft and damn its a shame we don't have another pick in the 1st it's suppose to be a stacked draft.

Should've dealt at the deadline for a 1st last year someone would've bit

You guys realize that you're only 4 points out of the final wildcard spot and only 5 points behind the Capitals for 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division, right?

 haven't looked so good but it's still early. I will be pulling for Marty out west

Like when they rigged that lottery for Pens to get sid and keep then from moving to KC??

Pens had the worst record the 3 prior years to the lockout therefore had the best chance to win that lottery. Not sure what you're getting at here. Besides, KC isn't a viable market, if you were a true Devil fan you would know that better than anyone.

Besides, if the Pens shouldn't have gotten Sid (despite being the worst team in the league the 3 prior years & the year of the lockout) then who should've gotten him? The Devils?

The Pens have had two good eras. The Mario era and the Sid era.

Both were the result of putting a complete dogshit team on the ice for years, and in the Mario case openly tanking games.

That's why people begrudge them.

Teams like Detroit (or for that matter the devils ex the last 2 years) that manage to put out good teams every year while still putting out championship caliber teams within that are respected and people don't begrudge them even if they don't like them.

That's why we're having a thread about tanking for Connor McDavid, right?

Also, not to be a dick, but whatever respect you guys had before was lost after the Kovalchuk signing.

I know this is a hard concept for a pittsburgh guy but there is a difference between a few posters asking if it's a good idea (this and other boards) and a franchise (Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh) actually doing it.

What is the basis for this thread then?
