Yes, that is the ballpark where the RC's play. It was built in 2002. Nice place to see a game if you don't like the long ball. The wind off the lake keeps the ball in the yard. Gary actually has ONE home run this season in 14 games -- and that was in Kansas City. Don't expect to see many at all this year from them, though other teams pop a few out. The park is about 40 minutes from where I live.

Others ... trying to think ... Gary Nolan could be one.
Barry Larkin would be an easy guess.
I'd have drafted Eric Davis ahead of Babe Ruth.

Barry and Gary are correct. The last one would be a surprise to most people just due to the fact that he probably isn't thought of as a guy that would have been a #1 pick.

This last pitcher was traded with Armstrong and Joe Torek to Cleveland for Greg Swindell.
Started a total of 41 games for the Reds between 1989-91.

I could look it up but won't.
So that means somebody else will have to guess it.

Robinson! Shows up on the Milwaukee roster, but not the Indians.

Damn!

I thought for sure he ended up in Cleveland.

It was just a wild guess based on that. I don't remember for sure if he was even part of the 90 squad.

You got the right trade on Scudder but the Robinson entry waggled you. Robby was a first-rounder but wasn't with the Reds for the 1990 W.S. (Was traded in June that year to the Boohoos.)

Yeah, and that's why I went with RonRob.

I knew he was a 1st rounder, and thought for sure he spent some time with the Tribe.

I had completely forgotten about Scudder.

Can't blame me though really...He was very forgettable.

The Reds have an entire roster of guys since the turn of the century (this latest one, and not the Wil White decade) who I can't recall and didn't notice at the time. From Rich Aurilia to Brandon Claussen ... there were some major turkeys.

Esty Yan? I saw this guy give up a granny that was rising when it hit the upper deck.

However, I still like this uniform better than anything in the last 20 years.

Agreed on that uni. That thing was great.

I have no problem with their current uni either, but those early 2000's ones are fantastic.

My biggest memory of Robinson was coming within one strike of throwing a perfect game against the Expos the same year Browning threw his. Pinch hitter Wallace Johnson singled and Tim Raines followed with a Home run with two outs in the ninth.

Some general trivia about 1947 ... and I confess to having looked this up, so don't accuse me of being all that smart.

Who gave up Jackie Robinson's first big-league hit? Pitched for the Boston Braves.

The only pitcher I can think of from that era would be Warren Spahn. Unlikely it was him, but that would be a good one to get your first hit off of.

I don't think I've ever heard that question asked before. It's a good one that you'd think we should know the answer with the significance it holds.

I just happened to wonder about it. It wasn't in his first game. Wasn't really even important to the outcome of the game.
