I don't think The Longest Day was a John Wayne Movie, he was not the lead actor. The question is what is John Wayne's best Movie? So, I guess A...

John Wayne is the same in all of the choices in the OP except one, and that's True Grit.
That's the best one on that list.
That's not a bad thing but there is little differential between them.

My next favorites would be Big Jake, then The man who shot Liberty Valance but this movie John Wayne is overshadowed by some other actors.

In Harms Way is maybe my favorite John Wayne movie.
Hard to pin down just one.

I've got a soft spot for Rio Bravo. Just a perfect blend of Western drama with a little comedy thrown in. Plus, the cast is excellent

The Shootist was his final film. Not his best IMO.

I liked Brannigan, I guess it's just weird to see him in something other than a Western or War movie, maybe thats why I like all those others like McQ, Hellfighters, Donovan's Reef, Hatari, Big Jim McLain...

Hondo is the only one I've seen and it was not a good one. Thanks, @Chewbaccer :pissed:

I think it's safe to say that John Wayne was virtually the same actor in every one of his movies.
The differences and better/worse came from directing, story, cast.
I can't think of any movie that he wasn't the same.

I think that's what makes his movies so great, but others would say the opposite because of the same thing.
