Kickers get credit for offensive stats but players don't get credit for special teams return yards and TDs? That's stupid

I agree, but return scoring is never something I could push through the rule change process.

ANY player will get credit for a rushing td, or for kicking a field goal if they get the opportunity. No player gets points for return yards or TDs. That's the logic.

One of these days we're going to have to deal with a skill position player who also serves as his team's kicker. I think Q's head will explode from the debate over what position that player will be eligible for.

Kalen Ballage scores 8 touchdowns..... On my bench. Thankfully it didn't cost me the game, but in reality I had no thoughts about putting him in my starting lineup. Would have been a record amount for point today in Soul 12.

If a player kicks the XP or a FG....he'd get points for those.

Just not the empty yards.

I always thought that a compromise between those positions was possible. Award 6 points for a return TD, but nothing for yardage.

Return TDs are rare enough and take enough skill that it wouldn't be empty to award points for them, but it does allow the possibility of a reward for drafting somebody who's a very skilled returner

As a person who has been against return TD"s (sorry JB) but also as a person who generally had a lot of players who double as a return man and would have gained a lot by return tds, I think the best solution if do return points at all is for no yardage to be allowed, and for return scores to be that of 3 or 4 pts, not the full 6.

Ok. Proposal.

4 points for return TDs, as a one year pilot rule for next year. Not to be continued beyond next year without further discussion

We will put it up for vote after the season. Gives us all some time to think about it.

makes no sense to me. a return TD counts the same in the game. it's hard to do. we hardly see the reggie bush types that get tons of touches and return kicks anymore. I'm fine with at least the TD counting as 6 and no yardage. just something should count. but yes, a discussion for next year

funny we talked about it a bit, but yeah no one would have started him unless we were in a Pac 12 only league or something

Yeah- I mean that Texas Tech defense is about as bad you will find in D1 football, but with having the starting ASU RB on my team it was tough to start the backup ahead of him. Next time I should just start any every player I have on my team that is facing Texas Tech. Even N'keal Harry would have been a good start.

BTW,

Biggest different between the kick return stuff and a kicker getting points for TD/ rushing yards, is that the play for Carlson was from play of scrimmage.

Funny enough, I was given "worst odds" to win the elusive Soul-12 championship to start the year. :thumb:

My past 3 years have all been the same.

Stevie says I'm one of the favorites, but things always find a way to fall apart on Q.....and then it happens. This year faster than usual.

Bah, the bettors know better than to be fooled by Lamar Jackson feasting on overmatched defenses in early season play.

The betters should've known better than to bet on the Hopefuls.

You are Butch Jones.

Disagree. I have a phenomenal starting QB.

My QB play is not holding me back.

I'd say Richt but I'm not that good either.

I'd say Kevin Sumlin or even Leach.

This has to be a record for worst keepers in S12 history.

Chryst lost the QB job and is now on the S12 waiver wire.

Yearby has been relegated to some kind of co-starting/backup role with the Canes.

And there still isn't anyone I didn't keep that would have really been a better option.
