Played TE (had one great catch and tons of poor passes and dropped balls) a little but did pretty well at DE for a smaller county high school. I also played some OT; several games in my junior year if I remember right. Never got close to the playoffs but we were good fodder for some powerhouses. Played with a handful of guys who went on to play college ball and against two who made it all the way.

I also played baseball all four years, playing 1B and some catcher, OF and pitched several innings in relief. The problem was I only had a straight fastball that topped out at about 84 so prayed for ground outs and fly balls.

Two years after I graduated a 7-footer came along who went on to play basketball for an SEC school and then the NBA and Turkey. I played some pickup games against him on Sunday afternoons and it was nuts. I was the tallest guy out there and he was skinny as hell so he asked me to try to shove him around and make it hard on him. I don't think I ever succeeded.

It was weird when it was all over. I'm sure I'm not the only 40 yr old who still has vivid dreams about those days. My last year and a half was allot like Dazed and Confused. A little less weed and beer and allot more pussy. :D

My school was in the semi finals and blew a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter against the state juggernaut Hoover High. Lost by 3 which included a last minute 2 point conversion wish we could have gotten that one.

Go Rebels!

Lost to them again tonight! Blew a 28-10 lead to lose 31-28/Hoover Bucs #3 nationally ranked and going for second straight undefeated season. Actually play Auburn next Friday in 6A Championship at Bryant Denny Stadium! The irony!!!

I was a professional athlete for right at about 10 years. Not football though. Played football for 1/2 season my sophomore year (at my h.s. freshmen were on a different campus). Was MLB. Broke my arm a few games in and decided to never play again.

Lost in the semis my junior year and lost in the title game my senior year ( 45-42 ). I did set the state record for most TD passes in a title game though... 5 to my team and 3 to the other team... LOL ( sadly not a joke)

I played both football and basketball for 2 years each.

Good enough to start but no super hero stories for me. I could have gone further in hoops with a little more effort but eventually blew my leg up.

grew up in rural Illinois (Rochester) going to a school who couldn't afford a football program. Family moved to Michigan after 8th grade...tried out for the fb team at my new school (Port Huron Northern) but realized I'd be nothing more than cannon fodder. Was the right move, but I've always envied bitches like most of yahs here who DID play.

Being cannon fodder wasnt bad, well, until the pussification of football happened. I think just about every drill we ran, except maybe wind sprints and gator rolls, have been banned since. Also, my unspoken position of mucker/enforcer has since been eliminated.

Went to Ford Field to watch my high school win their fourth straight state title. Extended their winning streak to 56, longest in the nation. My little cuz set a state finals record with six TDs in the process. And my entire family has now forgotten that I ever played. (We won ONE playoff game my senior year. Which was a HUGE deal. Times have changed for my mighty Yellowjackets! Hahaha)

Louisiana just changed their championship format, there are private and public school champions. In a state that is probably too small for 5 championships now has 9 championships. Are most states out there the same way?

We have 8 different divisions for football in Michigan these days. Public and Private schools are together. All boys schools have a definite advantage. (No girls to bump up the school population) Out of the six titles that have been won so far it's actually 4-2 in favor of public schools. (A Yooper even won this morning.). 8-man football was recently indroduced as a state sanctioned sport, with just one division. So, nine total state champ teams really. (Wrestling is crazy here in MI. All of the weight classes in 6 divisions equals a buttload of state champs)

I did my senior year only after friends begged me to play with my size and decent speed. With no playing experience, I started on both sides of the ball as a guard and MLB if that tells you how bad we sucked. Hadn't had a winning season in over 20 years and went 1-9 that year. Our school was known for baseball (I played varsity all four years) and wrestling.
