Yep. Made the playoffs even though we had a losing record. Upset the 10th ranked team in the state in the 1st round, which earned us the privilege of getting curbstomped by the eventual champion in the 2nd round!!

Have you ever been to the Pewter Mug?
Used to go there every year during Spring Break in grade school.

Yeah...up on 41 north of town? If you went back to vist you'd be awestruck at what it's become.
It's amazing how I still live close and have a lot of old friends down there but only go to Naples a few times each year. It's just so crowded and just generally fake there that the entire city has become an unnecessary hassle.

I never played for one, but we did make the playoffs. My son played for three years with Chris Leak of the Florida Gators and one with Joe Cox of the Georgia Bulldogs. He won a title each year he played and that Independence High school team won 116 games in a row before losing. My son never was on a losing team his whole time in high school.

Played football from the time I was in pop warner through freshman year and realized if I as going to get an athletic scholarship it would be for soccer and not football, so I focused on soccer. The coach asked me to kick for the team and I was totally on board till he told me he expected me to be at summer pride to lift weights at 5 in the morning all summer long. I politely declined.

I quit as a freshman after the first scrimmage where I didn't get to participate.

I had been a starter since the day I stepped foot on a football field.

My coach was my mother's cousin. I shouldn't have told him that. They didn't "get along".

It was all pussy and drugs from that point on.

Played HS ball back in the late 80's. Now when the weather gets cold my angles swell up and make me feel like an old man.

I don't eat breakfast but I hear snap, crackle, and pop when I get up in the morning and start walking around.

My boys are down 28-7 at the half. Blue Springs Class 6 are the defending champs. Not looking good.

Nope, played from 5-8 grade but once I got in school I saw what big boy football was I opted for Cross Country. I was pretty puny up until my senior year.

1981, lost to the eventual state runner up 27-13. We had 4 touchdowns called back for various penalties. Never found them on film day though.

My high school is playing for a state title tonight. I played for one in '91 and lost. Good luck to my boys tonight! Have any of you played for one? When you're 17 or 18 years old it's the biggest moment of your life.

My senior year in 1994 we went undefeated and won our first state title in 18 years, 35 to 7. Dominated everyone. We had a bunch of studs in that senior class. Junior year we lost by 1 in the first round. Sophomore year we only won three games. My school (Bishop Kelly) has won several state titles since, including this year's 42 to 34 win over the #2 team in the state. They beat them 14 to 10 earlier at their place too and capped off another undefeated season. And you're right. Those are some of the best moments of your life. I'll never forget taking the field my senior year for the CG. When you're that age, it's everything to you.

Louisiana just changed their championship format, there are private and public school champions. In a state that is probably too small for 5 championships now has 9 championships. Are most states out there the same way?

My school was in the semi finals and blew a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter against the state juggernaut Hoover High. Lost by 3 which included a last minute 2 point conversion wish we could have gotten that one.

Go Rebels!
