I think 1991 is the best (even though I wish the outcome was different).

2001 is pretty close to 1991. As mentioned before the home team won each game in both of these series.

They were also very close in the following areas:

Number of 1-run games: 1991 (5) 2001 (4)
Number of extra-inning games: 1991 (3) 2001 (2)
Number of walk-off wins: 1991 (4) 2001 (3)

I'd also like to put in a vote for the greatest World Series never played: 2003 - Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago Cubs.

every time I read a question like this, the first to always come to my mind is the 86
red Sox and Mets WS.............Damn that Buckner.

If Tom Jackson was a Boston fan I could hear him scream "knock it down"......lol

despite the Yankees losing the series, the 2001 Yankees vs diamondbacks was amazing...

Went to game 5 at yankee stadium... best game i have ever seen... and was exciting as hell...
I was at games 3, 4 and 5 in 2001. Never quite seen anything like it. Game 7 was another classic. Hated the outcome but that was some damn dramatic shit. Game 6 being a blowout kinda hurts the over all series. 96 although only 6 games was another one. After blowing the Yanks out in games 1 and 2 I didn't think the Braves could lose.

2001 was the most intense world series I can remember that didn't involve my team.

2001 NYY vs AZ. Series went 7 games each team won their home games. Game 7 AZ came back from behind in the 9th and then walked off against the best closer and literally untouchable at the time, Mariano Rivera. I believe the Yanks also had two walk offs of their own in NY.
The Yanks were losing in the 9th in games 4 and 5. It was pure madness. No one in the Stadium could believe when the D'backs trotted out Kim in game 5 after he blew game 4 and threw a ton of pitches

Not sure how old you are but 1986 was another completely crazy one.

It was 1975 in my book. I would of liked to see NY Giants vs. Yankees WS when Ruth and Gehrig played against the Giants.. would of been cool.

For me though last years WS Gaints vs. Royals was awesome..Game 7 is epic in history.

I will remember Bum's performance forever.

The dude is not human...he can chug 6 beers at a time..Have you seen that picture..epic shot.

:suds::clap:

What the....

When did Tigertowner get banned!?! I never even saw the dude argue in like six years of posting with him.

Color me surprised on this one.

Fell in with Canuck and Zig and caught their SportsHoopla-hatin' disease. End of story.

Personally, nothing compares to 2010. But for non-Giants fans, I can understand how it would not rate. A win in 5 games just does not scream "Classic".

2014 was pretty Epic, and I think will be well received in the years to come. 5 of the 7 games were blow-outs, but that game 7 was absolutely amazing. Bum placing himself in the Pantheon of baseball feats and that bottom of the 9th caused so many heart-attacks...

2001 and 1991 are legit contenders as well.

What in your opinion was the greatest WS. I would say either the 91 Braves/Twins or the 01 DBacks/Yanks.

But this years was also a great WS.
97 and 02 were also ones I enjoyed.

Was that the one where Dusty shouldn't have let a toddler roam free? (2012 WS didn't happen as far as Im concerned.)
Yup. That was the one. He also congratulated Russ Ortiz on the win as he took him out of the game in game 6. :L
