They won 51 games. How in the world are they a super team? Because they rolled through a depleted Eastern conference playoffs?

IF they get swept in the finals, do you still consider them a super team?

They won 51 games because they were uninterested and lazy.
They were 10-14 last 24, many against non playoff teams.
12-1 since playoffs started.
You can't use the regular season record in any analysis.
Go by players and payroll.
Best player in the game.
2 other current all stars.
Highest payroll ever, supplemented by 2 additions who are both in the rotation.
That HAS to lead to championship expectations.
Unique situation because Warriors on paper are even better, but that doesn't change anything.

At least 1 superstar and at least 2 more star players who are considered as a top 20/25 player in the league

In BR top 25 players heading into the new year (posted on 12/31/16), Love was ranked 19th, Kyrie 15th, and LBJ was #2.

So superteam is just another way of saying a currently dominant team? OK.

The Warriors seem to care about the regular season. Winning nearly 140 games in the past 2 seasons.

The Cavs are in a somewhat unique position in that they live and die by the play of one player. So they were fine with coasting and not demanding a lot from him in the regular season so that they could get peak Lebron in the playoffs. Most teams aren't like that. Heck even the Spurs weren't like that to anything close to the same degree.
As somebody said earlier, the Heat were considered to be a superteam, and Cleveland is constructed similarly and have had similar success. I don't know how one defines superteam exactly, but the Cavs fit the mold of teams labeled "super" before.

Well this is a start. However, it seems to me that the Cavs are super team in large measure because they have Lebron James.

Don't get me wrong. The Warriors are more of a super team than the Cavs and the Heat team from 2011 and 2012 was more of a super team than the Cavs as well but the Cavs are still a super team. IMO they are more of a super team than the Heat were in 2013 and 2014

I also think the Celtics were a super team for a few years because when they acquired KG, he was a superstar and a top 5 player in the league while Pierce and Allen were probably top 20 players at that point as well.

Which spurs team? They been great for so many years. Which year?

Well really any year. They have been a great team for a very long time. But I don't consider them a super team.

They are a good team but the EC was very weak this season. Boston was the weakest #1 seed I can ever remember. And I have been watching basketball for 36-37 years.

I guess you can maybe make a case for them 10 years or ago or so when Manu was considered one of the top SG in basketball before he went into that 6th man role

My point is more, how you define super team. IF it simply means the best team or teams at any given time then I guess the Cavs are a super team.

It doesn't mean that though. I didn't consider the lakers a super team and I didn't call the Warriors a super team until they got Durant.

Who knows. You said they aren't one. How do you define it? Because in today's NBA, lack of an astounding number of regular season wins isn't enough to discount a team imo.

That's stating the obvious.

Well I consider the Warriors to be a super team. They have 3 All NBA players. Not many teams in history can make that claim.

The Cavs have the best player of his generation. They also have some very good supporting players. If not for the Warriors they would be the presumptive favorites to win the title this year and next year. But with the Warriors they are the presumptive 2nd fiddle.
