At first glance this question would seem to be a yes. The Tide have a top 20 defense and have held almost all their opponents to under 20 points this season. A closer look however reveals that only 3 of Alabamas opponents ALL YEAR ranked in the top 30 of total offense ( Ohio State ranks 4th in this category ).. In those 3 games the Tide is giving up 29 ppg and almost 485 yards per game to their opponents. Can the Tide D slow down the Buckeyes?? Im not sure we arent in for a shootout in New Orleans come New Years Day.

LOL!!!! Is this a serious question?? Ohio State will have to get their run game going to move the ball and our run D is too stout.

Saban has 3-4 weeks to prepare
Ohio st has 3rd string QB and yes he's got an arm
BAMA's weak spot is secondary
BAMA at the Sugar Bowl is always tough

I dunno. I gotta go with BAMA's D and 3-4 weeks to prepare for a 3rd string QB

If I was OSU, I would come out throwing it deep and then try to run.

Alabama has the best Red Zone defense in the country. Even if OSU does move the ball they will have to settle for field goals.

OSU has the ability to burn Bama's secondary on some deep plays, but then so does nearly any halfway-decent offense in the country.

That stated, if Ohio State can't establish the run, then some of those passes will be picked.

Of course its serious. Bama hasnt really stopped any of the great offenses they have played. Ohio State is a higher ranked offense than any Bama has faced, Giving up almost 30 ppg and almost 500 ypg isnt exactly a stellar track record vs quality opposing offenses.

The real question is, if Ohio State does beat Bama... are they forced out of the SEC? I mean according to them they are tiers above Ohio State and this wont even be close. Do we put all the bama posters on suicide watch as well.

Everyone can bring up all these stats, and a,b,c reasons... but game day can change everything... What if Sims goes down, or Cooper, or X Y Z.

Penn State took tOSU to OT late in the season. I'm not sure bama can handle them though.

"rolleyes"

All fair points SJ. Is it possible the lack of film on Jones actually helps OSU?? Granted the kid is going to have to play great but there really isnt much to go off of in preparation.

Then Bama would lose, and their NC count would hold at 14, for now.

Then next season, they'd reload, making yet another run for the NC.

Next question?

Can Alabama's defense stop Ohio State?

Is a pig's ass pork?
Does the Tin Man have a sheet metal dick?
Did Rose Kennedy own a black dress?
Is Bill Clinton a horn dog?

Also stats can lie.

Against West Virginia our defense gave up 1 TD and only 16 points.

Against Miss. State we gave up 13 points until they scored a garbage TD at the end. A lot of their yards came in the 2nd half when we went into our prevent defense to try to keep stuff in front of us.

Against Auburn we played bad in the 1st half but in the 2nd half our defense shut them down and we went on a 34-3 run to win the game. and Auburn also scored 1 TD in their first 7 tries in the red zone(Im not counting the garbage TD drive at the end)

This is an excellent point!! Despite Bamas inability to stop quality opposition from moving the ball they have been excellent at holding them out of the end zone in red zone situaations ( allowing only 5 TD's in 14 possessions ). OSU is going to have to score TDs to win.`
