50% taxes on a $10 Million salary is not my definition of "being screwed".
50% 0f $10k or 50% 0f $10mil...What's the difference? You're still losing half of the income that you earned.

For what?

What does Massachusetts offer me that Tennessee does not?

So you are not an elite athlete or rock star or big business upper management, so you are not in that income range. But if you were and you had the chance to earn $10 mil and take home $5 mil vs earn $10 mil and take home $6.5 mil, why leave $1.5 mil on the table? Maybe not for CEO's or Rock Stars, but NFL athletes are one hit away from never earning the remainder of their contract.

Back to Free Agency.

Just the signings and resignings have already taken most of the Patriots' Cap space. If BB sets aside $7M for 11 picks in the draft, he has less than $2M.

Bill has never redone contracts other than Brady's to allow himself wiggle room.

The four biggest cap hits on the Patriots in 2023 are:

Matt Judon $18.1M
Hunter Henry $15.5M
Trent Brown $12.5M
Davon Godchaux $10.5M

Everyone else is under $10M. Problem? All of the top three are done after 2023 so BB can't convert anything to bonus unless the top three are willing to extend their contracts with the team.

Bill might be able to sign the guys he brought in yesterday for a chat because only the top 51 count against the cap. I can't see him going after Hopkins or OBJ. Talking about a QB is totally out of the question.

From a money standpoint, I think we're looking at the 2023 Patriots until the draft.
There is a rumor that Pats could offer Brown and 2nd for Jeudy. I don't think that's a decent trade but it would clear cap space. Hell they could clear Godchaux too IMO

Pats just signed Mike Gesicki to a one year $9M deal.

He's had some big games against NE.

Is this the piece they needed? If he plays like his normal self this is an upgrade over Smith who never lived up to his potential in NE.

Gesicki and Henry could be interesting. I think this may close the door on BB trying to get a top WR in FA or trade? Maybe he's looking to take one at 14?

Or is this just a case of MIA and NE taking players and coaches from each other?
Geisicki is very underrated IMO I had not heard about this signing but I think its a good one.

Mike Reiss at ESPN reported it.

Good signing IMO. Like I said he's had some big games against NE. Seems to be very streaky. Super hot or cool. Could be the game planning.

Gesecki is an excellent receiver - not really a tight end. He can't block at all.
I guess this means we don't get Darnell Washington......

Mills and Hoyer are gone.

What does that say?

BB must be planning on drafting a rookie QB. He has two experienced guys that can hndle the team and he's looking to the future for a back up or potential starter.

It also says he'll find a free agent CB who's now starting to sweat profusely because he wasn't called by anyone on Tuyesday and now he just wants to be on a 40 man roster regardless of how much he makes. Hello? Marcus Peterson? BB here.

I would not go as far as to say we have two expierenced QBs, on is entering year three the other year two. Not a lot of exp IMO, expecially when you consider three different OCs in three years

Patriots have a bunch of OTs now.

Brown, McDermott, Cajuste, Anderson, Reiff, Stueber (Hamstring, questionable for start of camp) Hines

The OG position is really light. THIS IS A POSITION OF BACK UP NEED RIGHT AWAY.

Owenue, Strange

C is loaded

Andrews, Ferentz, Russey

Then there's Bill Murray who's 6'3" and weighs an impressive 265 and is listed as an OL. We have LBs that weigh more.

I read somewhere this morning that BB referred to him as a "big slot receiver" when we were game planning to MIA.

Seems like a solid fit.

You never know, it's only a one year deal.

Probablly means we pass on Mayer as well.

Looking more and more like going best avail OT or DB with #14, Or BB trades down.

Shut your whore mouth!!!

Gesecki is only a one year deal and Hunter is entering his final year.
Which means Washington is the perfect pick to spend a year learning the NFL and getting up to speed on the playbook!
