Johneshway Fargas has been assigned to Augusta. The kid just couldn't make contact. Haven't heard who is taking the spot, but if they stick with an outfielder, Dylan Davis makes a lot of sense.

Daniel Carbonell added from extended ST.

Fargas has the speed, the arm, and the defense to be a really good player. His batting average is terrible, and his base running has been sub-par as well. Maybe going to Augusta will jump start his season.

Austin Slater to AAA, to replace Mac. They'll need to replace Hak-Ju Lee as well..... Arroyo?

Opted-out of his contract.

Usually, these veterans have out-clauses. End of ST is a big one, June 1st is a big one, August 1st is a big one.
How about Green? Is he still around?

Wouldn't be surprised if Ali Castillo gets moved up to replace Lee. I would that Arroyo stays a while longer in AA for seasoning.

This.

Arroyo is still SUPER young, and he is only doing well in AA, not gang-busters. Let him finish the season in AA and re-evaluate in '17.

Tyler Beede (W, 3-3) pitched a gem today for the Flying Squirrels. And they didn't choke it away in the 9th as has been their frequent habit!

8 IP

1 hit

0 runs, 0 ER

1 walk

2 K's

lowered his ERA to 3.03

THAT'S what we are looking for!
I LOVE the IP, H and BB...

But a stud SP should be getting closer to 1 K/IP. I understand pitching to contact keeps the pitches down, but BABIP should eventually make you pay for that drastic of a K-rate

:agree:

Yes...yes to all of this. Beede may not be much more then a 4/5 starter if he doesn't start getting more swing and misses.

But the last couple of years he had a great go/ao ratio. I'm thinking Hershieser/Swlft as good pitchers who had good go/ao ratios but not necessarily that many SO and were dominant. Or G Maddux who had great go/ao but no 1/1 so/inn

Oh there is certainly more than one way to skin a cat. And I still think Beede is a top prospect. But the number of pitchers who make it going against the BABIP gods are few and far between.

Big news!

Phil Bickford has been promoted to San Jose. Sam Coonrod has been promoted to Richmond.
