I have a feeling a slew of minor league movement is on the way.

Arroyo or Ali Castillo headed to Sacramento soon, and maybe Hunter Cole too.

That would allow Shaw, C.J Hinojosa and Duggar to advance to AA.

And Dylan Davis and Miguel Gomez can advance to San Jose.
It would be nice to see a couple of guys moved up to Sacramento, even if Castillo and Cole aren't hitting that great (although it is the Eastern League and they are two of the three best hitters on the team). There's a lot of organizational guys in Sacramento who should be playing in single A.

What are the chances Shaw is still in the organization come August 1 (or is it August 15 this year?)

I hope very high. I really like this dude. He is turning into a big-time asset though.
I like him a lot as well. But, like Duvall, he simply has no future with this club. He can ONLY play 1B (apparently) and Belt ain't going anywhere anytime soon. If we can ship him to the Spanks instead of Arroyo, OK...

Unless, ya know, the rules change.... :brick:

Shaw, Hinojosa, Duggar to Richmond. Garvey, Bennett, Dylan Davis to San Jose. Might be more on the way. I'm SHOCKED Miguel Gomez wasn't among those moving.

Shaw, Hinojosa and Duggar were all drafted in 2015, already reached Richmond.

All are LEGIT bats and have become LEGIT prospects.

Duggar looks slick. Great plate approach and he's starting to tap into his power. Plays RF and CF.

Shaw we've discussed a lot.

Hinojosa has solid utility-player skills.

Not out of the realm of possibilities these guys could reach the bigs by 2017/2018.

Delfino, Ali Castillo, and Chris Denorfia officially added to Sacramento.

San Jose roster still stands at 24... room for Gomez.

2016 draftees Bryan Reynolds, Heath Quinn, Gio Brusa, Ryan Kirby, and Ryan Howard have all been assigned (over the past couple weeks) to Salem.

We (I) keep talking about the system's top 3 prospects being Arroyo / Beede / Bickford.

But is it possible that our actual top prospect is Shaw? Dude was drafted in last years draft and is already in AA and killing it.

I know his defense and the fact that he is completely blocked in SF are major knocks against him, but that bat plays.

Well, either :

- Trade bait

*or*

- wait. They don't have to protect him (put him on the 40-man) until after the 2018 season, and then they have 3 more option years (that's obviously a max, he could easily show up earlier). So you wait to see what you really have. You also try to move him to LF or 3B to see if he is 'good enough' to play some games there (i.e., the McCovey/Cepeda dilemma). AND, if he's the 'real deal' offensively, if you can't get what you want in trade for him, then trade Belt (if Shaw hits .290/.380/.600 w/ 35 HRs 3 years in a row in AA/AAA you are either going to get a good haul for him, or he'll be making starts in LF/3B and 'resting' Belt once a week to see what he can do against major league pitching.).

He's number four for me, no doubt.

Marco makes the great point that we have so much time with this kid. Already in AA, drafted and signed about 13 months ago.

Call me crazy, but if Shaw tears it up in Richmond this month (and doesn't get traded), I'd love to see him move up to Sacramento, just to see if he's ready for AAA next year.

That would be a little overzealous. No need to rush him THAT much.

We are very thin on position prospects in the upper minors. If he would be ready for AAA next year, let's find out now. I'm not talking about a September call up here.
