It's easy when you're the only ball handler on the team. He's a ball hog.

And he also turns the ball over quite often.

Other players like Curry and Harden play in their system. Russ does to - it's just that the system is called do whatever the fuck you want, Russ.

Harden avgs more turnovers than Westbrook. And it is really not that easy to avg a triple double as everyone on here is making it seem to be.

Westbrook is a ball hog but Harden is not? LMAO. Put Harden on this OKC roster and he is avg the same amount of shots as Russ.

A guy is leading the entire league in scoring, while also averaging double-digit rebounds and assists and he is not starting in the all-star game.

That's all that needs to be said.

I personally believe Wewtbrook should be starting too.

But, Curry over Westbrook is no different than Kyrie over Thomas ...imo

Some people value winning over raw stats.

But what I think you've missed is that maybe not every fan wants to see ONE player do EVERYTHING. What is wrong with us fans wanting to see a TEAM effort in a TEAM sport?

Westbrook PER is higher than Harden and he avgs fewer turnovers but yeah he's a ball hog and not as efficient lol.

When you have a shit team then you must be a ball hog. I don't think anyone would ever consider Wade a ball hog but guess what? When he was surrounded with a shit roster in Miami back in 2009, he was attempting 22 shots per game.

I think they're both ball hogs quite honestly. I also think that RW ran KD off too....as did Harden with Howard. I personally wouldn't mind if neither of them were on the All-Star team.

And no one here suggested that it is easy to avg a triple double.

Corrected on the Harden part as I wasn't aware.

Still, I value winning as well. Westbrook's team is hinging on the edge of the playoffs while the Rockets have been the surprise of the West - and Harden's their best player. And this is coming from someone who thinks Harden and Westbrook are a bunch of ravenous cvnts.

Harden also averages more assists.

He has a 2 to 1 turnover ratio.

Russ is a smidge under 2 to 1.

It's a popularity contest. At least when it came to Russ and Curry. Kyrie won the other votes as well. Russ was voted #1 by the media and players. It was the fans vote that made the difference.

I'm just so sick of people killing Westbrook basically trying to discredit him by trying to say he is only putting up these numbers because he is a ball hog and he's on a shit team. Trust me, a lot of greats in this league played on similar rosters and they were not able to avg 30, 10, and 10 for the first 40+ games. Even last year his numbers were sick. He has been on this tear for almost a year now. Since the AS break last year, he's been nearly avg a trip double. In the 2nd half of last year, he avg 22, 11, and 8.

Ball hogging doesn't get you rebounds.

I have him #2 in the West, behind Harden.

....and that's only because the Rockets are winning.

I think this is the key. And the reason we saw the fans vote how they did.

Once again his team is better. Swap those 2 guys, and I think Houston/OKC would still have the same record to what they have now. Houston team is really good. Eric Gordon been really good. Bev is good for what they're asking for him. Ryan Anderson is a gunner. Solid role players in Ariza and Brewer. Solid young role players in Capela, Harrell, and Dekker. OKC on the other hand have 3 solid players after Westbrook and that is really all.

Fans don't value winning. They vote for their favorite player. If they valued winning so much then why wasn't DeRozan ahead of Wade? You're lying to yourself if you think fans value winning.

Yep I agree. I would give the MVP to harden for that reason but for a little guy, grabbing double digit rebounds nightly with all those big guys in there is really impressive. Both guys are great. I feel like those 2 should have been starting but not a huge deal as he's going to make the team anyway so I'm not going to throw Steph under the bus because he's been pretty good as well

I think the media split the vote because of that.

I think Curry is just way more popular over the last 2 years with the fans for 2 reasons:

1. Exposure

I have seen 1 mountain dew commercial with West and he's a difficult interview at times.

Curry, His Wife and Baby Riley are media darlings and we have been oversaturated with their cuteness and their multiple endorsement deals.

2. Winning

Curry has been in the last 2 Finals and his style of play is highly entertaining.

Westbrook is viewed as the ballhog that drove Durant into the arms of the Warriors.

2014....they were 21-61....lo l

Wait...he made it 2016 too.

I couldn't agree more that Curry is much more easier to like than RW. And you know that I actually did like RW & feel he's a great player.

But, I feel like his reaction to KD leaving was really childish- and the fact that he's still holding onto some kind of grudge is ridiculous. When LBJ left Miami we didn't see Wade lose his s!*%. It has just really made me think differently about him- even though he's having a killer season stat wise.

Yes the fans voted Kobe in even though he wasn't healthy enough to play.

But weren't there seasons when he was going off stat wise and didn't win MVP? That award is driven by popularity just as the votes for the All-Star game.

Its easy???

The leagues has seen TONS of ball hogs, and we've only ever seen one person average a triple double. No one else has come close. And when the Big O did it... there were a grand total of 4 guys in the NBA that were 7 feet tall. (Right now there are 47).

I agree to an extent, and I wouldn't have any problem with IT starting over Kyrie... but there's a big difference between that situation and the Russ situation, IMO.

Yeah, IT has better stats than Kyrie. But he's not doing anything we haven't seen done every season by multiple guys.

Westbrooks stats are WAAAAAYYY better than Currys and hes doing something that has been done one time in a 70-year league.
