Lang did his best to get a bidding war going. More often then not, the winner of the bidding was ends up being the loser

Yup. The Packers OL has been getting raided by division opponents lately and what they are going to do to address that is curious, yet the Packers have been unusually active in the FA market and still have way more cap space then either the Seahawks or Lions, yet let him walk. Not only did Lang break his foot, but he also had hip surgery which will keep him out all off season activities I hear. Desperation for OL leads to poor choices and risky gambles that back fire.

We move on.
Hopefully we can get a T with upside that we don't have to reach too much for.

Mostly we need the young players on the roster( talking OL) to make some significant progress, otherwise it won't be pretty...again. This is the bet the Seahawks made last season, knowing they would take their lumps last year ( think the lumps were more severe then anticipated) I'm going to be upbeat about it and trust they know what they are doing.

Looks like AP has been here for a while... I wonder if they get something done with that ? I have mixed feelings, he's a great running back no doubt, but he's also injury prone and past his prime.. What would it be like a 1 year or 2 year deal ?

Kind of confused by that. Cook is a bum and if we are going to sign a te why not just bring back willson?

Speaking of which, why haven't we heard anything about Luke?

The theory I heard yesterday on 710, which I think is pretty solid, is that the team has made its offer to Luke W and he hasn't made a move...the exercise of bring in Cook is a warning shot to Luke: get back to us soon on our offer because we're not going to sit around much longer waiting on you.

When you miss out on actual lineman the next best thing is blocking TE's, and from what I have read Cook is a solid blocking TE. Now with Luke off to Oakland it would mean TE is now a priority anyways.

We just fucking signed Feast Mode... jesus H. Well maybe a one year prove it deal will work out with him. Tons of talent there... hopefully the sushi and hippie culture of Seattle tones down his diet.

Not much to choose from on the FA market at RB. Seems like a decent choice. I'll wait to complain until later.

Walter Football's grade. In all honesty I like the pick up... giving him some crap with the Feast Mode, but 1 year prove it deals usually work out. I'll be more skeptical if Lacy has a great season and then we give him a mega contract.... he's proven to be fat/lazy in the past.

Seahawks sign RB Eddie Lacy (1 year, $5.5 million): A Grade
Eddie Lacy has been overweight the past two seasons, though he did average 5.1 yards per carry last year before going down with an injury. Still, Lacy promised to undergo a P90X training regimen this offseason, so perhaps that'll get him into shape. This 1-year "prove it" deal will certainly serve as a motivational tool.

This contract makes a lot of sense. In fact, I think it's perfect. The Seahawks are filling a need with a talented running back who will be extremely motivated. Lacy will be at his best in 2017. While he'll miss Green Bay's great offensive line, the Seahawks could make some blocking upgrades in the 2017 NFL Draft.

I'm grading this as an "A." I love logical "prove it" contracts like this.

I like it. Moderate risk, potential huge reward if he stays injury free and our O-line can can be somewhat functional.
