TJ Lang took a 3-year deal with Detroit, so there you have it.

Be interesting to see the details of the contract. Three years for a 30 year old Guard seems risky, unless the guarantee $ is low.

True.... but we had the cap space if we didn't sign Joeckel to an $8M WTF deal (who we could cut today and get it all back)...

Not correct. Here are the details of Joeckel contract.

Ah I thought it was unguaranteed. Well fuck, that makes it even worse.

The market for OL is so hot and so many teams have more cap space, that signing someone like Joeckel makes the most sense ( since most others are out of the price range the Seahawks can pay ), young kid with a lot to prove, yet still with lots of upside. If he fails, then next year the Seahawks have the cap space back, it'd be like rolling over the cap space, but yet with a chance that Joeckel finally gets it and works out. It's like putting your cap space in a interest producing account. Brilliant actually.

Yah I get it... just, bleh. I don't even know why they had Lang visit with $16M in cap space and barely any flex. "TJ just play for us this year at $1M per and we'll make it worth your while!" I just thought they signed Joeckel as insurance in case they couldn't get Lang and would cut him afterwards.

Ah well. No doubt Joeckel has TONS of talent (hence no 2 overall)... maybe Cable can pull a miracle with it. He actually did get Carpenter figured out and then Seattle failed to resign him and he was the Jets' best player according to PFF (and very good guard compared to others)... /facepalm

I'm sure Ifedi will get it figured out by the 4th year, leave Seattle, and turn out to be an all pro the following year on another team.

This visit has come and gone, and obviously he left without a deal.

Shame, he would be a big time upgrade... But we'll see, they could still nab him...

He only had 3 teams showing interest is why he made the visit. His old team ( Packers ) would be willing to take him back at a discount, but they play hard ball when it comes to $ and everyone knows that, so that left only 2 teams left. Won't been to smart to cut that down to 1 team.

Maybe and maybe not. Cheap as the Packers are, I don't recall anyone they let walk that shined after leaving the Packers, so I'd keep that in mind.

Hoping that he might sign an Avril/Bennett less than market level deal to play for Seattle.

He is listed as the best O-lineman available.. But yeah, you never know, and you do end up dumping a lot of money with top free agents...

Beware of free agents from teams like the Pats and Packers, they may be cheapskates, but they aren't dumb.

I think he means free agency.... hence 'lose' not trade. And he's absolutely correct we'd get comp picks (if the salary is high enough which I'm sure it would be) in that scenario.
Also considered, though, are free agents that we bring in.
