That's my point... you have a better chance if you drop one now...

I know. However, I was responding to DHoey who was trying to use the "What if you had to go undefeated to get in?" excuse for Washington's crap OOC schedule.

He said that USC can drop one and still get in, even though it didn't happen for USC prior to the playoff and UW just got into the playoff despite dropping one.

Well, usc's situation is kind of irrelevant because it was a different system. We were lucky last year, things fell into place. I think the point was there's a way better chance of USC getting in with a loss than Washington, that's how I took it anyway. I think that's true. I don't think it's wrong considering the schedules, but again, no one's happy about our schedule. It'd be nice not to have to worry about it and know we have a good shot with one loss.

He had been defending Washington's crap OOC schedule. So, imo, he was saying that Washington had to schedule that level of team to have a better chance of going unbeaten and be able to make the playoff.

However, I agree with you. I think UW's OOC schedule, combined with the loss to USC almost kept you out. I'd be willing to bet that if we had lost a game after the game against you guys, or if the CCG had been a closer game, you wouldn't have gotten in.

Really?!? USC made the NC game twice during the Pete Carroll era. We had to go unbeaten both times to get there. Every other season, we had at least 1 loss and didn't get in. We were told "Win all of your games and your in.

Spare me the "What if you need to go undefeated to get in?" excuse. Doesn't fly and didn't change our scheduling.
im talking about next year, not the past. USC has momentum with the media and polls right now. They go 12-1, they're in.

I wasn't making a fucking excuse, I was just saying what needs to happen in 2017 for UW to make the +1. You think that we can drop one with that schedule and sneak in again??? No fucking way.

And USC getting in with 1 loss is a damn compliment to their schedule.

And? Did Washington not lose a game and still make it? That makes scheduling shit OOC games look even worse.
And yet schedule hurt others that didn't reach the top 4. UW was probably overcompensated for beating Colorado, Utah, and WSU more than rewarded for a bad OOC. That early season Stanford game also ended up giving them credit late when their team improved down the stretch.

Media has them as high as #2 in some way too early looks at next year. For sure they can get away with more losses and still be a top 5 team. No doubt about that, but they also have a tough road with no season bye weeks and more meat on the table for their OOC games.

@trojanfan12 You bet UW got in with 1 loss last year, but it was a quality loss (hate that fucking expression) and I doubt it means they are in for sure next year given all the controversy around it and the fact their OOC is just as bad this coming year. They will be under a serious microscope all year. It's really going to come down to how the rest of the Pac looks and how much they win by against the more quality teams.

This past season Washington lost to the only team it could lose to and still get in the playoffs. Coupled with the Bg10 mess they did have some breaks go their way to get in. While USC does get the love when ranked high ,they are quick to punish USC for any loss. An SEC team ranked high might go down a few spots if they lose to a fellow SEC member but USC gets really punished when they lose. It might be a different system but the polls reflect the east coast and southern football bias. I don't think even a loss to Washington would save USC in the polls. The PAC just isn't viewed very strong right now so teams like USC Washinton and Stanford would need to win out to be assured a spot . One loss and you leave it up to PAC haters.

If SC loses to UW then they might be in trouble because of the timing of the loss. As stupid as it is, pollsters seem to think that a late loss is worse than a early loss.

Well if USC loses to Washington it would be in the CCG and that would knock the trojans out. If USC loses one it would have to be to Stanford and hope Stanford stays top ten.

Oregon had to go undefeated in BCS but was able to lose 1 under playoff.

Shit, I just want to get through spring ball after closing out the recruiting class and see where the team is before I talk too much or worry about 1 loss playoff bids.

Probably not known outside of Seattle, but Browning injured his throwing shoulder vs ASU and played the rest of the way with that injury and just had surgery to fix it. He will be out at least 6 weeks which means he should be good to go by spring ball, but I want to see how good he looks with that shoulder by that time.

Not sure that made any regional news, but his shoulder problem was a big part of his lower production on deep passes in those last remaining games and probably impacted his overall accuracy in shorter passes as well. They kept his injury a secret so none of us knew about it either.

UW star quarterback Jake Browning has surgery on throwing shoulder

Really explains why he had struggles down the stretch and puts it in a different context, but now we need to see that surgery actually leaving him fully capable of those deep throws again.

Speaking of SC and Udubs. Are you catching the rumors Tuipulotu may flip to SC? It seems to be gaining steam. He does have an official visit with SC scheduled for today I believe. And it is odd with Petersons no visit policy amongst other things going on. Could be nothing could be interesting

Its hard to read SC did flip Bolden. Some 3 star decommits looks like they may be making room. They are working on a few PAC flips. He is listed for an official visit to SC today. But flipping is just a lot of talk right now imo.A lot of rumors involving SC giving his brother a job etc....

I hope he brought his scooba gear if he's here today. I just drove from Santa Monica to Pasadena and the freeways are flooded from the rain that hasn't stopped or slowed since last night.
