Need a real starting RB and a true #1 WR ... take this as a learning year for Wentz and he's doing well for what little talent he has at the Offensive skill positions.

We have a lot of needs. Wentz will take his bumps the rest of the year and hopefully be better for it. The RB and WR positions need to be upgraded drastically. The defensive line has been a major disappointment with tons of money spent on it. The poor DL play just great magnifies the issues we have at CB. Howie has his work cut out for him molding this team into a contender for Wentz.

Chip Kelly might be the worst thing to ever happen to the Eagles.

Call of the game was Pederson throwing the red flag on a 2 yard reception.

99 out of 100 High School coaches don't challenge that play.

At least we can put the Schwartz as a HC candidate stuff to bed. I like him as Doug's long term DC.

Yeah that's about the dumbest thing I have seen in awhile. Wasting the final challenge on a two yard reception was ridiculous.

Bright side morning.....how about Wentz's escapabiltity!! While he still had his rookie issues (throwing behind a receiver at times....Reich will help that adjustment curve) he absolutely is tough to get down. One break out in the first half was smooth down the sideline. I felt with the one in the second half (who gets wrapped AND facemasked by Peppers and stays on his feet?) it was amazing he got away, but he could have got more. It was like he got out and to that second level and thought "shit, what now?" That's not a complaint....I want him having as many of those experiences this year. He will watch that film and, no doubt, make the adjustments that count from the future.

Defenses learned quick not to blitz as much and make him work in passes. That has been something that has brought his play to earth more than anything else. The counter to that is going to be using that mobility some. Sending 7-8 out with receivers with their back turned? Watch me run. That will be what opens the passing lanes.

As for Dougs call.....it didn't cost the game. But that was very well noticed. This was a worry for me with him. Showing too many signs of his mentors weakness. Dont get me wrong. Look what Andy is doing this year with a strong D and enough offensive talent. I just fully expect him to give a classic Andy time/challenge management game in a playoff game.

And Doug is showing some of those same maddening proclivities.

In the end it's a shame. Even as a guy who has carried an expectation of 7-9 from the start of the season I can't turn off the fan that really wanted to see a win and see us stay in the hunt.

This game made me realize just how bare the cupboard is on offense - there's only so much Wentz can do - and how badly we need new corners. Both Carroll and McKelvin were awful last night. Just was a really frustrating game to watch if you're an Eagles fan.

The officiating (again) left a lot to be desired.

Pederson might be too dumb to be an NFL head coach.

Right now though, the talent is just lacking on offense. We need a new #1 WR AND a new #1 RB.

On defense, the corners are trash. And our vaunted D-line is showing it is totally overrated.

Wentz has some mechanical issues that need fixing, too. That first INT was just pure bad mechanics. Balls sail like that when you screw something up mechanically. How much of that is him reverting to the mechanics he had in college because his receivers are screwing up is hard to say.

NFL insider: Eagles coaches have already made change to Carson Wentz's mechanics

I want to say I read something else the other day that they have been working hard on some mechanic tweaks since camp. In fact they were working on them warp speed between Sammy being traded and the Cleveland games. Which was only NINE days from anointed starter.

Those simple mechanical flaws were surely part of why Cleveland passed and said he would never be a top 20 QB. And I'm sure these were flaws they wanted to work on with a full year of him at the third QB position.

But I'm still glad they made that move. Sammy wasn't taking this team to the playoffs. Heck....Brady might have a tough time doing that. Might.

Is it me or is anyone concerned about Cox's play since his big contract? I think it was @Wings that actually posted this as a concern and I really am starting to wonder myself.

It's certainly noticed at this point. Long term I'm only mildly concerned. I don't buy into the notion that a guy just quits making effort when he gets paid. Yes, that happens sometimes. And it is often due to deep issues with that players personality and ethics. Sometimes there is warning....sometimes not. While I don't pay super close attention I do not remember seeing any such signals on Cox.

There is no denying his effectiveness on the field has been way off. But there can be numerou other factors that don't go straight to him being a bum.

If he does not have a "bounce back" year next year than I start to worry that he has flamed out. Until then I am not going to pretend I know enough of what's going on to label him a bust. Transition years can be like this.

Ugh, that challenge does have me a little concerned about Pederson.

It also occurred to me while watching the game that in a league that is all about passing we may have the worst receivers and the worst corners in the league. Not a recipe for success...

This team performed better with lesser qb talent under Kelly. Pederson and Reich are frauds as coaches. Kelly may be as well but he was better than these guys.

Could you imagine glass man and butt fumble throwing to the receivers that we put on the field last night? Or playing behind that offensive line?
