isn't his sin smoking pot? seems pretty silly to me, I would let it go, who cares. If the Browns don't care, why should I? ..... eliminate the rule

the NFLPA needs new leadership.
I can agree the anti pot rule in the NFL could be eliminated, but as long as it's a rule, the suspensions are on the individual player, not the league.

The NFLPA is a disgrace.

..and yet, astonishingly, is a bastion of character and integrity compared to the disgraced cheater Tom *Brady (whose misconduct you passionately excuse).

100% blame the league. The guy was just living his life. The league said "well we don't want you then." He didn't share his pee with them, they demanded it.

It's a fucked up policy and Josh Gordon is one of its victims.

Their league, they get to make the rules if you want the cash.

Tom Brady is one of our greatest heroes. Where would we be without the great Christopher Columbus and the great Tom Brady?

You can't believe that one guy who could not follow simple instructions is making the fans suffer.

It's up to the league. They could let him play and undo their abhorrent policy, but they choose not to. They choose to hurt the fans instead.

I don't want the cash. Gordon wasn't swayed by the cash. You guys bringing up the cash is hilarious and irrelevant. It's not about cash, it's about talent on the field. Their league, they get to decide to choose from a smaller talent pool or not. Get it?

You didn't answer me, how is ONE guy being suspended a year hurting the fans? Hell, I'd argue that Bengals, Steelers and Ravens fans were happy to have him gone.

One of my favorite players was Onterrio Smith. He literally pissed away his career by buying a fake dong to pee with. Really one of the more embarrassing moments in the history of my team.

I certainly didn't blame the league when Onterrio got hit with his suspension, that's on him, he knew the rules.

Lower talent level. You didn't understand that?

Onterrio was told to sit in the back of the bus and he said no. It cost him his career. Rosa Parks was more successful. The fans are still waiting for their Rosa Parks. It's a shame we gotta wait so long.

Then why not go play in Canada?

I get it that you don't agree, but IMO, it's very much about the money.

The NFL is a brand just like any other brand...American society is softening on pot slowly but surely.

Yet, as of today most companies that test for recreational drugs do not want that element as part of their company or brand. There will probably be a time when that's not the case, but we're not there yet.

So...whatever reason you think guys want to play in the NFL, you have to play be the rules they put in place.

The players are employed by the teams. The teams are not suspending the player.

Actually, yes, they are.

Do you not know who the league is? They are employees of the owners.

Roger Goofdell was hired.... by the owners!

He does what they tell him to do.

If he puts a drug policy into affect, it is because the owners told him to.

You really need to learn how all this works before you keep on making a fool of yourself.

I know you're not comparing the NFL's rules to the civil rights movement now.

Because his talent level belongs in the NFL. I care about the on-field product. That's why I watch.

I understand that they have to play by the rules. That's how we all end up getting screwed out of watching an elite NFL talent like Josh Gordon. That's why the prudent, pragmatic solution is to let the rule go and let the product on the field be filled with more superior talent.

Not yet, but the league has legal rights to his blood and urine. Blood and urine that he creates in his own body. Unethical as fuck.

Yeah, that whole CBA "terms of employment" thing is a bitch.

Likewise to that 1st point bold.

To your 2nd point in bold...you think that we, the fans are being short changed because rules are keeping some players off the field. There is truth to that, particularly if you're f an of that team.

I think the players are adults, working as professional athletes...in the vast majority of work environments, there are dos and don'ts...i.e. conditions for employment...as you understand, we have to conform to those rules to stay employed...I don't think it should be any different for pro athletes.

Because pot is still an illegal substance on the federal law books, the solution imo is for Josh Gordon and all other like-minded players to conform to the league rules. Once that changes...then we have a realistic conversation about the NFL changing this rule.
