Typical response of a 20 something or millennium blame the league.
Police officers, service men and women, other public servants who make 1/10th of these athletes have to take urine tests. In most cases if they fail one they're fired and lose their career. Pro athletes get chance after chance.
It's unfortunate that some of these athletes were born with their freakish talent. Never had to work for anything. Thus they feel they don't need to follow the rules right, wrong or indifferent.
What's the average Football players career, 6 years or something. All these idiots need to do is stop smoking till you're 30. Retiree and smoke their ass off on a beach somewhere for the rest of their life.:painkiller:
I must be getting old because I can't believe people think that way. "It's the policy not the person."

God help the future of humanity.

So because Gordon can't follow the rules, its the NFL's fault? If he doesn't like the rules, go find another job that has policies that fit his lifestyle.

You "blame the system" guys crack me up.
Yup. I already told you the league is best when they let all the best talented players play. It's not Gordon that decided to exclude players like Gordon. That was the league that decided that long before Gordon. 100% on the league. Gordon wouldn't have to change any of his behavior if the league wasn't excluding people like him. 100% on the league.

Did Gordon do anything worse than smoke some weed? I mean, obviously he shouldnt have if, for no other reason, out of self interest, but let's not pretend this young man is a criminal or something. (Unless, of course, he did something i don't know about, in which case, fuck him)

He had one beer while on league probation (not criminal) too. Clearly he's evil and should be barred from the league.

You are both clearly missing the point.

Gordon didn't follow simple steps that would make him a multi-millionaire. Where is the accountability on the individual??

If my job said "you can't drive a car while working for us and if you follow those simple rules, we will pay you 5 million dollars"... Guess what? I'm gonna take the bus or get a taxi every time I need to go somewhere. If I decided to drive and I get caught, it is my fault not my employers.

The rules are in place and Goedon knew about them. It is his fault if he didn't follow them. If you want to argue the rules are archaic or stupid, that's fine, but you sound ignorant (@eaglesnut ) arguing it is the leagues fault the player couldn't follow the rules.

I'm willing to bet you're "feeling the Burn."

The NFL's rules are stupid, but they are their stupid rules to make. Gordon is lucky he's getting one more shot, because most of the less talented players wouldn't be.

Don't push self accountability on ENut.

Push it onto the league. Gordon didn't get to play because of league rules. That's the number one condition that needed to be satisfied for this situation to arise. Without the rules, what Gordon did is irrelevant, therefore it is the rules that are of the most importance here to arrive at the current situation.

League RULES, which he violated. Only one to blame is him.

The league is definitely giving him every opportunity. They are allowing him to be with the team (because they know he'll just screw up again on his own), yet Brady can't even play catch with Gronk in his back yard.

Not a proper comparison. Josh was already banned from the team and all team activities for almost 2 years. This is the normal conditional reinstatement.

Well...I don't know how "normal" it is, but gotcha.

Reading certain people's comments, I wonder if they have ever actually had a job in their life.

Person A violates terms of employment and loses job and you think it is the employer's fault?

You're a special kind of stupid.

isn't his sin smoking pot? seems pretty silly to me, I would let it go, who cares. If the Browns don't care, why should I? ..... eliminate the rule

the NFLPA needs new leadership.

The players are employed by the teams. The teams are not suspending the player.
