Anyways Pix. It is nice that at the end of a season all we have to disagree on as Penguin fans is the winner of the Conn Smythe. Enjoy the Cup and I hope you and your father can get close to it one of the days it is in Pittsburgh.

My biggest beef with the latest discussion was the line "getting geeked up to celebrate like it was a foregone conclusion"

Sheesh

Sorry you had an issue with it. People around here most certainly were.

Congrats to the Pens, their fans, and particularly to Phil the Thrill.

I am too lazy to go back and see what I said about the trade, I am sure it was derogatory. But I was wrong. Honestly I am not surprised. During the Leafs one lone playoff series against the B's, Kessel was very very good. So his playoff success is not a shock to me at all.

Good on ya Phil, now go and have another hot dog!

Yup, congrats to the Penguins... Thought they really dominated play for the most part and had the Sharks back on their heels. Any time it looked like San Jose might take momentum, Pittsburgh took it right back.

Yeah, The Sharks had no answer for the speed and quickness of the Pens forecheck.

Even early in the 3rd period of game 6. The Sharks wee down and still played like they were trying not to lose.

Figures right when the NHL has soften the sport to the point the Sharks can finally compete.

The Sharks have grown to old and slow to take advantage.

Pens deserved to win.

Congrats to the Pens fans here.

They cut away early, did Matt Murray ever actually get to touch the cup?

I can agree, I kind of forgot how well he did play in the ECF.
Most people tend to forget that the CS is awarded for the best player in the entire playoffs, not just the Finals. And understandably, because we live in a "what have you done for me lately" world.

FTR, I would've given it to Phil. He played a part in turning a lot of iffy games into Penguins wins.

Edited my post...I disagree on Murray. He was a difference maker in the Caps series, and was more a survivor in ECF-SCF. The kid won, so who really cares, but that glove hand led to some stinkers. Letang I can see, he was best in SCF, but had a rough ECF. I don't think it's league pandering, Sid had a solid postseason. In a year where no one player separated from the pack, picking a guy who was consistent and did the little things well is fair.

Congrats Pix and all other Pens fans. I hate that team with a fiery passion but holy crap were they the best team since January. Crosby was playing at a completely different level than anyone else out on the ice.

At least they didnt give it to Martin Jones ala Giguere.

I still would have liked to see Letang get it. He gets a lot of negative attention for some of the crap he pulls, and even while he had some defensive lapses that had you scratching your head, he was a key part of this team, he was integral in setting up or potting at least 4 GWG that I can remember, and his ice time was off the charts.

I wonder if he lost points for his suspension with some of the writers.

I would have definitely given it to Phil too, but in this case this is a bit of a lifetime achievement award for Sid. Not that he didn't play really well, I just feel like he wasn't the best player in this playoffs.

I actually think Couture deserved it from the losing side but that is so rare.

I would have had no problem with Couture winning it.

Here's to the return of my normal sleep schedule.

If the CS were for the finals only, I would have given it to Jones. If you switched goaltenders I think this would have been a sweep, and most games would have been 3 or 4-0.

I was hoping Phil would get it, but (statistically) no one really stood out as head and shoulders above the rest, so they gave it to Sid. He was relentless and played his heart out. I don't really have a problem with him winning. And like Pix (I think) said, arguing about who on your team deserved the CS is a great problem to have.

The experiences of the last 7 years have showed the Pens fanbase (at least those who have been fans more than 7 years) how freaking difficult this trophy is to win. I'm glad it's over.

3 months til training camp.

I missed tonight's game, but I just wanted to say congrats to the Penguins and their fans on winning their 4th Stanley Cup.
I enjoyed watching the Tony Awards with you, same plan next year?
