How many do you keep in total? Are your keepers essentially your first picks? How many OF do you start? (are you keeping other OF?)

These answers could sway me... because I'm not blind to the injury history of Gomez.

We keep 10 MLB, 5 MiLB.

I don't know what you're asking about my keepers being my first picks.

We start 3 OF. I have Harper and Stanton.

Start three OF is all I need. Keep Perez.

Wow, you have a 14 team league and you have an OF of Harper and Stanton, and a 10th keeper of Todd Frazier. Quote impressive.

Thank you. My team is pretty stacked, particularly for a 14 team league.

It was the first fantasy league I ever joined and, as I said, it's a keeper league. I learned a lot of tough fantasy lessons early and my team sucked very big, very veiny donkey dick for years. Because we kept ten (at that time we kept no MiLB players), and my keepers sucked, I started focusing on prospects, and drafting a shitload of MLB pitchers that I'd trade off at the deadline to playoff contenders for draft picks. Finally started to pay off a couple years ago.

Here's what I've got now:

Hitters:
Sal Perez
Jose Abreu
Rob Cano
Todd Fraizer
Bryce Harper
Mike Stanton

Pitchers:
Clayton Kershaw
Madison Bumgarner
Chris Archer
Cole Hamels

Minors:
Joey Gallo
Josh Bell
Rafael Devers
Tim Anderson
Andrew Benintendi

tough.

Because you only start 3 OF and already have two, the decision is very close. Gomez is by far the better player, but the quality of replacement level guys in the OF will be higher than at C.

Still though, I am betting if you throw Sal back into the pool, you will have a pretty good chance of getting him back in the draft. Gomez would likely be among the first few players selected in re-draft.

I am keeping Gomez and looking at best available catchers in the first round. Sally P might just be there for you.

I think it's a long shot that either would make it out of the first round - remember our 1st round is equivalent to a standard 11th round.

Further, as of right now, I have no 1st round pick. Traded it for a failed title run. I am working on moving Stanton for a package that would include a 1st round. I love Stanton, but his fragility concerns me. Leg and hand issues for a power hitter that young make me nervous.

I just took a look at cbssports' player draft averages.

Currently, Perez' average pick is 153.67, which would put him at the very end of round 11 in a 14 team league.

Additionally, for what it's worth, PECOTA projections have Perez slightly out-pointing Gomez with this league's scoring.

Only starting three OF, the upside of Stanton out weighs any negative from injury adjustments you'd have to make. Unless you are blown away, I wouldn't be selling Stanton.

You and I disagree here. An injured Babe Ruth would score no points.

I ran some back of the envelope numbers using DLFL scoring and saw the same thing. Obviously health issues could change that in a heartbeat, but I don't get the arguments here that Gomez is far better. Certainly not from a fantasy perspective.

And if healthy might score the most... again, depending on the offer, you're playing with fire.

So the solution is to hang on to an injury prone potential superstar?

Honestly, if you value Stanton that highly, I wish you were in my league so I could trade him to you.

Me value him? Ahhh... he's the consensus 3rd OF and a top ten pick.

Trade him for whoever you want.... I'd only trade him for a handful of players... not saying I'd give that handful to get him... but am saying for you to try.

He's a fun player to watch, but if you're focused on him within the first 10 picks of a draft, you're an all or bust fantasy player. No way I'd take him first ten.
