The Arizona Cardinals of Glendale

Wasn't this pretty much the reason the Phoenix Coyotes are now the Arizona Coyotes? Someone was complaining because the stadium is actually in Glendale. At least that's what I've heard.

Moving them to Glendale was a terrible move on their part. It works for the Cardinals because they only have 8 games a year and its once a week so the commute is worth it. I used to go to at least 9-10 Yotes games a year when they were in PHX, now that they're way out in Glendale I go maybe once or twice a year.

I don't understand. Am I supposed to be feeling bad for the poor citizens of Santa Clara?

People actually live in Santa Clara? I thought it was all corporate campuses and amusement parks.

WTF are you talking about? The whole region boomed because of shit that was happening in the south bay. The south bay can stand on its own feet and it has for a long time. Santa Clara doesn't need to rename itself for the benefit of Goodell and the NFL. What a douchebag. He's clearly lost touch with reality.

What's in a name when it's part of major metro area?...The ATL Braves are moving to Cobb county...Marietta, they're never going to be called the Marietta Braves...Santa Clara will get plenty of ink and pub these next two weeks or so.

This really has nothing to do with Santa Clara or SF...you just needed to vent on Goodell....I feel ya!

Santa Clara isn't part of the San Fran metropolitian area. It is part of the San Jose metropolitan area.

We'll have to see how these stadium deals hold up if teams fall on really hard times. Its only in the past 15 years or so that stadiums are getting further and further from the city centers. And the franchises that have done so have had some successful teams to pack the place. Cowboys are a bit of an exception, but they could have built that thing in Abeline and pack it every Sunday. But what happens to those other communities that are flipping the bill when the teams struggle on the field for an extended period of time like Cleveland, Detroit or pre-Harbaugh niners? Are people going to go 30-40 miles to watch them play? And if they dont, what kind of effect will it have these smaller communities that house the stadiums?

I wrote the Braves organization a letter suggesting a name change when they move to Cobb County. I thought the Cobb County Peach Fuckers would be a great name for my absolute favorite team, but they never got back to me.

Shame.

It makes sense for Atlanta teams to play in the suburbs. Metro Atlanta has around 5 million people. The city of Atlanta has around 500,000 and it's 90% ghetto.

Can't wait for the Braves to get to Marietta. It's not much closer for me, but it is a little closer and in a much better neighborhood and a little bit less of a clusterfuck.

I'm a north GA mountain goat. When the Braves leave the city, I'll officially have no business in the Atlanta city limits.

A buddy of mine who lives near the new site said there is going to be a shortage for parking. It kind of sounds like the same problem they had at Turner Field.

Don't speak on what you don't know. It's the Bay Area or San Francisco Bay Area in which both SF and Santa Clara are a part of. Nobody but dipshits like you call it San Fran metropolitan area.

Reality of the situation is that Santa Clara is smack in the middle of Silicon Valley so although people look at the population of Santa Clara and think small, it's a huge area with big cities around it. If the fans don't show up to games, its not because the community CAN'T support the team, its because we still have the same dipshit owner making the same stupid fucking mistakes and fans WON'T support the team as long as he's running the team into the ground.

The Braves are only in Cobb because they got tied of being fucked over by the city of ATL...Turner field itself was/is a nice ballpark considering it used to be an Olympic venue...but the development around Turner Field they were promised never materialized and it truly is in one of those 90% areas you spoke about...I might say more like 60% but point well taken.

None of the Burbs really have the mass transit to make a major league stadium work imo. This location looks great on paper, we'll have to see about traffic once it's opened, but one thing for sure...Cobb will deliver on the surrounding development.

I'm not a gate MLB person no more so just running my yap...FWIW...From Blue Ridge to Helen...nice up your way.
