How long will you blame Bopleeny?

6 more games, next year, the year after?

For quite a while. The guy was a psycho beyond what the public even knows. I mean, yea we all saw him on the sideline......but the stories I've heard behind the scenes have me mind-blown.

A bunch of these players seriously believe in the "us against everyone else" thing. Like, they actually think that the 100,000 who show up in red don't like them.

Mike Riley really needs a couple of lucky wins right now to get players believing.

There is no chance a 62 year old soft spoken dude is going to talk his 2-4 team into going out and dominating the rest of the year.

He needs some bounces his way now.

If it makes any difference, Nebraska won @ Minnesota in 1959.

Ironically, they also beat Oregon St

By the way, I can't believe our fanbase claims to be so intelligent.

Every time I go to a game anymore I leave wanting to punch several folks in the jugular.

Our fanbase is literally stupid as hell.

Eichorst will get his review after 2 seasons of Riley. Guaranteed.

JJM was on fire in this thread.

Eichorst is under review right now. You don't come out and say what he said the day before the game unless there is heat. Eichorst has one job to do at Nebraska; hire a winning football coach, you do that and all other doors are opened and some lesser sins are forgiven. Doors are slamming shut now. Please read my signature, which has been there since December 4, 2014.

Oh, by the way, how in the fuck can't you get a first down when needed :L

The clock wasn't going to run down anyways because they had the time outs to call, so there was no excuse to not at least attempt a pass or two to actually try to get a first down there. If Nebraska did get a first down then they could have run out the clock, if they didn't allow TA to throw another " I want to be the star" pass like he did against Illinois in that "gifted" game to them. Everyone knew that Banker's defense would allow Wisky to drive down the field for a winning score.

By the way, Riley said in his presser after the game that he believed Nebraska is improving on defense. The truth is, Wisky being bad on offense gave the illusion Nebraska has improved on defense. Looking at the game stats is very telling. Stave being a good QB at best, passed for over 300yds.

I can't say bad hire at this point, need another year or two to see if he can do this. Gut feeling is he can't, but I've been wrong on a lot things. I just don't think MR can get team to top level in league. This will be hard to watch this and next year in my mind.

It's a bad hire.

man, were the refs bad or was it just me? they missed some easy calls and then made lots of crappy calls against us. the PI on their 1st TD drive was horse crap. yet they wouldn't take the hanky out on multiple plays where our guys were getting mauled. heck MR even got a flag trying to point that out to them. they gave him one make up call and then proceeded to miss some more. there were also more than a few holds by their O-line.

i'm being optimistic, i'm looking at it as we are a mediocre pass defense away from being a good team. seriously, MR needs to go find a new guy back there. maybe this guy is available:

that final drive, i was literally screaming for Banker to blitz, sacking Stave and making him throw the ball quick was our best hope of winning that game. letting those WRs have time to get open is just too easy right now. which again, i just don't understand, it would seem dropping 7 into coverage, you'd be able to keep guys on top of the WRs at all times.

Our offensive play calling is still just bad. DL just abandons the run way too much and way too many damn 1st down passes. i'm screaming at him to run the damn ball. where's the read option on 1st down to get 3 or 4 yards or maybe even pop a big one? it also again seemed pretty obvious early TA was struggling throwing the ball again, yet let's keep having him chuck it all over. and seriously, a team that is based on playaction passes, where in the hell is the naked bootleg? i remember several times it looked like that play was there. also, the play calling on the final drive was bad, you've at least gotta run something that might get you close to a first down, not just Imani and Jano up the guy. again, read option or the naked bootleg, let your leader TA try and pick that up with his legs (without a passing option). or heck since they had timeouts anyway, i honestly wouldn't have minded the risk of a pass, what's it really going to hurt? i'm serious, naked bootleg, you give TA like 2 options that are far enough for the first and tell him only if they are wide open otherwise run your ass off for that 1st.

anyway, i'm optimistic, we can get 4 or 5 more wins if this team and coaches can just figure out how to get out of their own way.

Exactly. They were stopping the clock anyways so trying a pass or two and trying very hard to get a first down there knowing how bad the defensive play calling would be. No excuse for not trying. To me it looks like a stretch for Nebraska to even get 4 wins the rest of the way the way these guys coach. Two or three wins tops the rest of the way. One more thing, Nebraska had 196yds rushing, but instead of passing 28 times, if they had passed maybe 15 times and ran those other 13 times, there could have been 250 to 300yds on the ground and in my opinion a win in that game. Oh well, the Wisky coach is a friend of Riley's.

If you want to win comfortably, yes. You're absolutely right. We aren't Bama. I'll take a win right now any way we can get it.

We don't need to dominate for me to be happy. Just make enough plays to win.

Coaching well enough to win and this team would be 4-2 at worst. Even Pelini or Callahan would have done better than this staff.

The reality of it is, we were in position to be 6-0 right now by just making a simple play during crunch time.

We just fucked it up every single time.

The coaching job has been so bad in all of the losses that I'm beginning to believe that Bo would have had a 6-0 record at this point. Sad sad sad.

Not one of the first six opponents had a dominant running game. Which was Pelini and staff biggest problem.

Pelini and staff would have stopped the pass. North Carolina is now the 4th best pass defense in the country. Nebraska is still the worst pass defense in the country. Pelini would have told the fans and the media to fuck off and dared Eichorst to fire him, but Nebraska would have been 5-1. I will give the Miami game a loss.

On the bright side, Nebraska has found their linebackers. Chris Weber, Marcus Newby, and Dedrick Young seem to be servicable out there. Chris Weber is real good, a real nose for the football.
