Fine. Then, why are you here?

My disinterest in Ohio St doing this is to say the oversigning problem is overblown and mostly sour grapes.

As I have said before. Show me the kids they are pushing out. As wrong as that would be if that is happening, the kids still have the 4 year scholly. They are not on the streets they are allowed to finish school.

Congrats on sounding just like an Alabama fan.
And to think that Ohio State fans were giving Alabama fans grief over this for years.
Not so much now.:omg:

Oklahoma has signed 117 kids over the past 5 years, averaging 23.4 kids per year.

Care to defend Oklahoma's oversigning practices?

And Alabama has signed 128 over the past 5 years. 102 over the past 4.

As for Ohio State, the 132 the past 4 years should be questioned as well, including the 27, 27, and 27 over the last 3 years. Especially in the Big 10 in which a +3 on signing day has to be met with a letter and explanation to the Big 10 offices.

Either way, like I've said before, it is all within the rules.

Culling the roster of unproductive players isn't a violation. Schools that can land monster classes year after year can, and will, do this practice until somebody brings forth rules to make it wrong.

I don't think that 128 number is right, but not sure.

Either way, we had so many free scholarships right now we put 2 walkons on scholarship for this fall, they will be finishing up their degrees.

I don't think it's wrong and I personally don't want the rule changed. It's been asked over and over, but I never see anyone who's actually been screwed over by the practice. The worst incident I can remember was a kid being asked to greyshirt after on campus, which I didn't really agree with.

Perhaps you should read my post and then post so you are not speaking out of ignorance.

Can't be right because I know for sure we didn't sign 26 in 2014, we had 24.

Doesn't matter who actually ended up on campus. We are talking signing day.

Yes. You had 26.

Brown, Casher, Clark, Cornwell, Dwight, Evans, Flournay-Smith, Frazier, Hamilton, Hand, Hassenawer, Holcombe, Humphrey, Jackson, Jones, Kief, McBride, Miller, Pettway, Pierschbacher, Reed, Robinson, Scarbrough, Scot, Sims, Smith

I likely spelled a couple here or there incorrectly, but inform us of which that didn't sign even though Scout, Rivals, and 247 say Alabama did.

Ummm, who ended up on campus is the entire concern with oversigning. Otherwise you are only talking about the classes that have 26 instead of 25.

Ummm... no. The concern is purely and exactly signing day for oversigning. It is exactly why the Big 10 only allows 85+3 on SIGNING DAY for Big 10 teams.

Nebraska has 88 on its roster of signed football players right now. We still have to report to the Big 10 offices as to how we will get to 85.

Does Alabama have to report their 96 they have right now? Ummmm.... yeah. That would be no.

:L The rule is specific to signing day not because that is where the concern/problem is with oversigning, but instead because....well that's the day when the recruits sign for the rest of the class. Where the hell else would they put in a rule dealing with the number of kids signed?

What people complain about is the false notion that the kids are being screwed over by the teams that sign the higher numbers, as in being kicked off the team for not performing and losing their scholarships, or being forced to a medical scholarship(still not sure how that hurts the kid, but whatever). Thus all the PR bs about "4 year scholarships".

Alabama doesn't have 96.

I already gave you the list, it was 88 at last count. If you want you can count it as 90 because there are 2 walkons that got scholarships for this spring, but they are about to graduate and won't be on scholarship after. So, 90 or 88 depending on how anal you want to be.

96 would be awesome however, so I wish it were true. Spread the word about Alabama oversigning for all I care, if the kid doesn't think he can hack it for the 3 or 4 years, they should save everyone the effort and sign elsewhere. Other than that there is a reason why Alabama can stock up as such and I'm not 1 tiny bit sorry for it.

Show us all... how.

I posted the list before, I'm not going to fish it up again. I have no problem letting you know you are wrong if you wish to keep citing the number.

McBride had to go JUCO because of grades. Scarbrough had a grade issue and is a 2015 early enrollee. OJ Smith got a medical redshirt for a high school shoulder injury. I believe Dwight had an issue too. Just because you see a service list a recruit as a signee, does not mean they ended up on scholarship with that particular class.

If Meyer is pushing kids out, then I have a problem with that. I would like to see who was sent out and why. The only thing where this is not so bad, is the kids are still on a 4 year scholly whether they play or not. They are not being kicked to the streets.

But as I said if he is doing this where kids are healthy and only wants the fast/stronger kid, he needs to stop.

Ellupo, focus on the following part of the article:

"While OSU may not technically oversign by more than three, they are methodically removing players with remaining eligibility in order to allow space for large signing classes, which is the core issue with oversigning.

The two most recent hardship recipients at OSU (Reeves and Tanner) both fully participated in the Sugar Bowl and Championship Game, cleared by their medical staff before the games and finishing both games uninjured. Three weeks later and right before signing day, the OSU medical staff would not clear the players to continue their careers. Conveniently, this allowed OSU to reach their oversigning limit of 88 scholarships to comply with their conference rule."

This behavior is what makes Urban Meyer's signing practices suspect.

Yes, and one of those is patently false. Reeves is not taking a medical hardship. He is taking a red shirt year. He had a concussion in November and was cleared to play. He lied to the medical staff until after the NCG about persistent headaches. He may or may not play again, but will count against the 85 scholly limit for OSU this year.

Are you saying Reeves was able to deceive the medical staff before the Sugar Bowl and NC but not after? Still sounds more than a little suspect.
