They weren't all his fault, but he has to do better at looking off defenders. If he's looking one way all of the way and a defender jumps the route, that's on him.

???

By who? The Bears offense was contained and awful all night. Their best plays were Yellow Flags and a Fade to Marshall. They basically were not able to move the ball any other way. The 49ers dominated this game in every aspect except for the turnovers. Despite the turnovers you nearly double up the Bears on offense, but the turnovers on top of all the penalties keeping Bear drives alive was to much.

Let's be clear we lost by only 8 in a game where we turned it over 4 times and gave the other team nearly 120 yards in penalties.

Quite frankly the Bears didn't exactly deserve to win, but between us and the officials they were gifted it anyway.

I rarely post on the niner boards cuz I don't want to get blamed for starting shit. However, I've been reading your posts about the refs giving the game to the Bears and I think you need to remember that some of that stuff went both ways. Kap got away with a TD pass for example that was about 3 seconds past zero on the clock. Should have been delay of game and a FG try. You can't just look at the bad calls that went against you and exclude the ones that benefited you.

He has all the tools but it's in the biggest moment where he has questions. That being said, there are plenty of things to look back on in this game. Someone had mentioned playing not to lose vs playing to win. Niners guilty of playing not to lose, 3rd and goal and it's a run call. You score a TD there, this game is very different. The penalties, the atrocious play of the O-line and no pass rush. I agree Kaep has alot of questions still but this game isn't entirely on him, though a large part is.

I can't really blame the defense for this loss. They were on the field way too long. Reminded me of the Singletary era.

This wasn't a screwjob by the refs. There were a couple of questionable calls, but the Niners lost this one on their own.

A lack of discipline is killing the defense. There were two TD drives that should never have happened and we can complain about the calls, but they are ones that have been called consistently and it's time the defense grows up. Everyone knows leading with the head is a penalty and they've called hands to the face more than a few times.

Kap obviously needs to take care of the damn ball. The o line sucked ass, but at best the 2nd INT to Fuller can be blamed on pressure. Kap's fumble and INT to Conti had nothing to do with pressure. Also, how the hell does Kap know the play clock is running out on that last drive.

The team can take this as a learning experience or enjoy an 8-8 season.

But they kept themselves on the field. The first defensive drive of the second half should have been a three and out. Instead, they had a completely stupid hands to the face call to extend the drive. They should have been out again on the next set of downs, but an even stupider illegal contact call away from the ball extended the drive again. The Bears eventually scored a TD on that drive.

I was thinking if that illegal contact wasn't made, it may have a been a Bears touchdown. If we're talking about the same play, that illegal contact impeded the receiver's route.

Rough loss guys. I hate losing like that, but I love winning like that. You guys looked good for the first part of the game, but penalties burned you in the first half. However, the refs were making bad calls on both sides of the ball. Among other bad calls, The first TD should've been called back because of delay of game as I'm sure a lot of the bears penalties were unwarranted as well. Either way it was an entertaining game that had me go from cursing my tv in the first half to celebrating uncontrollably after Fullers second int (you gotta be real, that kid is going to be a stud. I think he can be a shut down corner in this league.) I was impressed with your ability to shut down the run. You don't need me to tell you this, but Willis is an absolute stud and is unquestionably the best lb in the game.if you guys had your starting corners, I'm not sure this game would've played out the same way (although I'm pretty sure both of them are smaller as well). Either way, don't let this loss get you guys down. You're still a main contender in the NFC and the bears still have a lot to prove. Good luck the rest of the season, and please shut the stupid Seahawks homer fans up.

I've been drinking, but I thought the ball went in the completely opposite direction on that play.

Calls in our favor pretty much ran out after the 1st quarter. The number of first downs the Bears got tonight off calls in a situation where it should have been 3rd and long or 4th down was disgusting. They were the best plays all night for them other than the 3 TD passes to Marshall.

Their only other really big plays came on the last TD drive where Cutler hit the long pass down the sideline. That same play you could pretty clearly see 2 Bears lineman grabbing Brooks as he busted through them. On a night when a flag seemed to be thrown every other play it stings a bit they don't throw that one.

I'd much rather watch a game with very few penalties called than what the NFL put out there tonight. It was embarrassing and if this is the direction the game is heading it's not good. Way to many touchy calls being made this year so far. They are no longer letting the guys play on the field. They are pretty much calling you now if touch a guy outside of tackling them.

Besides the Gore TD called back this had to be the 2nd worst call to me that changed the game. 49ers would of got the ball back up 20-7 with 4 minutes to go in the 3rd and prolly pretty good field position. I think Lemonier had his hand under his face mask on his jersey under the neck and this was a terrible call.

3rd and 9 at CHI 21 (4:26) (Shotgun) J.Cutler pass incomplete short right to B.Marshall. PENALTY on SF-C.Lemonier, Illegal Use of Hands, 5 yards, enforced at CHI 21 - No Play.

49ers blow a big lead and lose 28-20 in a head scratcher

Every football game is two games together to form one outcome. The first half you find out what plays and defenses will work and the second half is all about adjustments. Tonight in the first game ever at Levis Stadium the 49ers jumped out to a fired up 17-0 lead. The 49ers then went on to shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties letting the Bears back into the game. This should of been a blowout and ends up a 28-20 disappointing loss.

The 49ers offensive line had some breakdowns and Kap was running for his life there most of the 2nd half but Kap has to keep his cool and not throw picks. He had 3 picks and a fumble and the Bears capitalized on those mistakes.

Coach Harbaugh is not allowed to talk about the officials but I am. The whole scene has become a complete joke. I thought the game turned on two screwy calls. The personal foul call on Dial for unnecessary roughness was a bullshit call. I thought it was clean and the spirit of the football player is slowly being curtailed and crushed. That penalty let the Bears go down and close the 49ers lead to 17-7. The holding call on Bouldin was also a bullshit call and cost Gore a brilliant football run for a TD.

I am starting to question the integrity of the game with all the money that is being bet on these games. The 49ers had 16 penalties for 118 damaging yards which is way out of the norm for a Harbaugh coached team. It's time to pay full time officials and not day bankers with a hard on to put on the stripes. The way things are going I would not be surprised if the next big scandal in the NFL is to come from the officials.

The lesson learned tonight is never let a team get back up (turnovers) after you got them down and never let the officials ( like in the 1983 NFC Championship Game)decide your outcome. It's a lesson learned better early in the season than late. This game was a serious head scratcher and the 49ers need to bounce back next week against a 2-0 Cards team who has some good athletes.

A tough loss tonight.

Go 49ers !!

Tough loss. I hate having to play the niners the week after a tough loss. Especially when you guys have had our number the past 3 years. Hopefully that trend stops. Next week should be a great game.
