Well, this game was informative. It revealed the Seahawks will most likely repeat as SB champs. It also revealed that the Bears will most likely have the worst team in the NFC.

Sucks to be a fan of Chicago sports teams.

Funny you bring up that phrase. Last year, when 9er trolls were allowed to troll, all we heard over and over was the phrase "paper champs, lol" Well, how'd that work out?

Go Hawks. Only thing holding the Seahawks back is that damn "game manager" non-elite QB named RW.

I don't think the QB position will be an issue. The major factor will be - like it always is - avoiding major injuries especially when you have multiple ones at similar positions. Part of winning a championship is having luck in this area.

Seahawks have a VERY good chance of doing something truly historic this season. That being said, I still give the edge to the Saints for the #1 seed in the NFC. The difference on schedule, at least on paper, looks to definitely favor NO.

Key word...on paper. Gonna be fun to watch this all play out, fo sho.

Interesting assumption that the 'on paper' comment I made was aimed at the Hawks. It was actually aimed at the Saints. LOL.

A bit of sensitivity here I guess.

The saints look to have an easier path to a championship game 'on paper'. That said many things STILL have to go right...

Don't worry. Sherman will take all of the positive things that Seattle is going to do and ruin it.

Honest Question. Do you actually watch Wilson Play, or just go off stats?

This IMO, is my honest assessment. Wilson is a better QB, than our Super All_pro Sherman is a CB. And I love Sherman, but so many people just put down RW for some reason (height, stats, etc) but IF you actually watched game situations, RW is MONEY.

I talked about intangibles earlier, and got 'poorly' debated. Watching Wilson repeatedly, and I watch replays all the time, I find it hard to fault RW in any way. T-Jak comes in and Pryor too, and the difference is huge, just in common reaction.

Because of RW, not our D, because of RW, the Seahawks have a chance to win the SB again. RW.

Honestly, to say RW is not elite, is to admit you do not watch the Seahawk Games.:suds:

Good points. I think that because Wilson is unconventional he is underrated by many fans. No denying, however, when you watch him play that he is very smart and has tremendous skill. Definitely a huge part of why Seattle won the SB last year and why they are a favorite to repeat this year.

I like Wilson as a QB...

- Has poise in pocket and the ability to scramble, extend and make plays when things break down is very impressive.
- Think he is a very smart QB... does not force much, makes good decisions and protects the ball.
- Puts pretty good touch on the ball.

Perfect QB for Seahawks right now... and I think he will continue to improve.

Great point, i think it goes back to how people get/are fed their oppinion on a player and then just refuse to change it,.

for example, wilson is under sized he will never be a nfl starter, his ceiling is a solid backup. He is a running qb. Now wilson goes out and puts up numbers better then any second yr qb ever, the records he doesnt have are owned by marino and manning, and he has a ring already but people still see a third year, short read option qb...

Now the other hand andrew luck, we were told hes the golden boy for years, he comes out plays very good at times, but also throws picks at a ridiculous rate his first year then his second he throws 5 picks and gets his team eliminated from the playoffs....but just this off season people were INCLUDING him in the elite 4 of qbs.......

Tebow, mania....... Now manziel mania.....,,

Totally agree that what people hear and read about various players tends to shape perception more than it sometimes should. I know that based on what I heard and read, I was skeptical that Wilson could really be as good as he has now shown that he really is. Really a unique player.

In fairness to Luck, however, I think it's worth noting that he has had considerably less help than has Wilson. I expect Luck to show that he's a top-tier QB this season with the return of Wayne and Allen and the additions of Nicks and Moncrief. We will see.

Haven't read the thread so don't care if I'm repeating things here.

Seattle has a solid team from top to bottom in all 3 phases. They aren't alone in that respect. Injuries are the tale of the tape every season and last year Seattle was fortunate to not have injuries derail their run.

This is a new season and they are just as likely to have devastating injuries as any other team. If they don't they will be a force to recon with.

Wilson is now going into his 3rd season and there has been a lot of talk over this camp about the 'game slowing down' for him from sometime mid season last year and carrying into this year. He is making great decisions and reading defenses better and better as time goes on. He has been with the same receivers and RB now going into that 3rd year and they are all getting more and more on the same page and knowing each others tendencies.

Add a healthy Harvin to that mix and this offense will be explosive. Again, healthy. Who knows if the injury bug will take him or Lynch or any other major piece of that offense out this year, but if they don't the league will be talking about their offense as much as their defense.

My question for the team is the offensive line. Not only has this been the worst unit on the team, but this years emphasis on hands to the face and holding in the trenches could raise even more problems for them as they were bad at it last year as it was. If the line improves this year that offense will be dangerous, but that's a fairly big if.

Well I disagree. I live in the state of Washington. Have no choice but to watch the seahawks.
Which is why when the argument of Defense & running game are the only reasons RW succeeds I find false. He has accuracy & I think the fastest two steps of a qb to extend plays. He also looks to throw when he breaks instead of being a run 1st QB. (like so many popular QBs lately)
But while unfair to him. He has never had to take an entire team on his shoulders & carry them to wins or playoffs. I have seen elite QBs do just that. I am not talking this game or that one, but knowing you have to be the man for your team team to win. Wilson has no idea of that pressure (so far)
Who knows if the hawks defense & running game went to crap, he could prove the world wrong. But I don't see him as elite. I don't put him with the marino's & others, but for all the haters, I don't see him as a game manger either. He is too intelligent for that.

So yes I watch his games, & he hasn't done much wrong to have negative criticism but there is a ton of kick ass QBs that shouldn't be considered elite. but like I said it isn't his fault he plays on one of the top teams in the league.

So like I said I could get in a deep argument for either side. I feel qualified (at this time) to claim he isn't elite. At the same time I could shoot down all those that think he is just a game manager because he has the QBs two best friends. Defense & a running game.

I am by no means trying to trash talk Wilson. (but I am not glorifying him either)

I am not here to say RW is an elite QB, but let;s give some major cred when it is earned.
RW has only lost 8 regular season games and has lost only 1 playoff game.
Regarding that playoff game, I would say without a doubt RW played an elite game in what so far had been the biggest game of his short career.
To say he has never taken a team on his shoulders is a bit out of touch.

I wouldn't hand the Lombardi to the Hawks just yet.

They will be a force but there are two teams in the AFC that look to be very strong as well.

Pats defense looked very good last night and that was without two starting LB's.

Chandler Jones is going to benefit from having a secondary that can cover.

If the last two games are indicative of how he's going to play this season then hell yes he's elite. Seems like Carroll's given him the keys to the bus so we'll really see what he can do. But anybody that says he's a game manager is stupid. The defense was top 5 before he came and they went 7-9 because the passing offense was wretched. He's one of the most efficient QB's in the NFL and if it were as easy as everyone makes it out to be then TJax would be starting right now with Wilson playing for someone else.

Wilson still struggles to complete passes between the numbers. He is at the top, or near it with his outside passing, crossing routes, and is just deadly on the run in broken plays, but he is far from a perfect QB at this time. His numbers out of the pocket in a traditional rush are pedestrian at best. Likely that is due to his height and lack of vision over the line.

He is at the very least in the top 10 of the league, but let's see what he does in year 3 before we start calling him elite.

Pats definitely looked good against Carolina last night and they figure to be strong SB contenders. There are reasons that they are among the top four favorites to win it all this year.

I don't think that anyone is prepared to crown a champ before the season's begun. Still lots of contenders at this point. LOL

The Seahawks are going to be one of the best teams in the NFL this year. That isn't controversial.

IMO, the Seahawks offense is going to be better this year and the Seahawks defense will be worse.
