Having actually seem Cammalieri play I think he will be a great fit especially on a line with Zajac & Jagr. is skill set fits perfectly with them as opposed to what he was playing with in Calgary. You think he is too old but are OK with Iginla who would be 40 when his contract ends?

i like the iginla deal because its only 3 years. hes a leader and the av's could probably ship him out after this season or at the deadline.

think the devils can find any takers for camaleri after 1 year of his deal is done?

what do you think his goal total will be this year? just wondering. i already put down 17-21

believe me i get that. if thats the case then.....dont go out and make a move just to make a move. lou cleared up the problem on the back end. if he can't find a legit goal scoring forward at a good price then call it a summer and go from there. i would have been more fine with that then inking him to a 5 year deal.

I think if that happened everyone here would be up in arms. You saw the contracts yesterday. Outside of a couple deals, everyone got overpaid. The only teams that don't have to ocerpay are teams that are a players first choice or contenders looking at vets for depth.

Is Cammalerri an elite forward? No. But he is a decent pickup and an upgrade for the 1st line. Are there concerns? Sure. The guys that don't have concerns usually get locked up before reaching free agency.

Plus there is no one next summer to save up for. As weak as this Fa period was next years is even weaker.

Cammalerri deal is good. He is not old. The team needed scoring, and you get a guy for only 5 million a year which I think is very solid compared to the other contracts thrown out yesterday. He also wanted to come to NJ and the Devils wanted him even at the trade deadline.
If anybody is kicking themselves, its Calgary for not trading him few months back.
Calgary did want to sign him too.

I watched NHL network and reading TSN and I find that most "non Devil" think its a good deal for NJ.
I don't even mean the fans who write below the articles, but the analysts.
Ranger fans will never say the Devils did something good. So I don't even listen to them.

Havlat deal is just there. Its a low risk move with potential to be a steal.

Clemmensen deal I hate. I wish Lou would change his mind and return him like you can when you go shopping.
I don't know if Kinkaid will ever be a regular NHL goalie, but I did have hopes for Wedgewood.
If anything, at least we should see Cory start almost every game this season.

Also, the team dropped Volchenkov which is great. This means we will finally see the younger guys play regular shifts on this team which is something everyone complained about.

So besides the Clemmensen deal, I have no issues what happened the last few days.

Actually the only non-Devils fans I have talked to who don't think its a good deal are rag$ fans. I know a few Calgary fans who are really pissed they didn't keep him though

Yeah, all my friends locally who are Pens fans thought it was a very good signing.

Cami deal is as good as we were going to get, Cup. I think that's the way we need to approach it. It isn't like Sidney Crosby was available in the FA market. Anymore, teams are being smart and locking up the star players in the league, which is exactly where the Devils have faltered in recent years. If you take this signing for what it is, it's a good deal.

Even the Clemmensen deal I don't mind. For the development of any player, especially a goalie, playing time is everything. We expect Scneids to start most of the games. So in reality, why not have an already cemented career backup come in as opposed to having a potential future team goalie sit on the bench except for maybe 10-15 games out of a season. It's better for Wedgewood/Kinkaid and better for the team's future.

What is so good about JJ? I don't get it. I wouldn't worry if he had been traded.

He's not great and if he left it wouldn't be the end of the world. But as a 3rd/4th line center he fits the role well. Plus on a team desperate for youth he brings that. He's a quality player that can be had for cheap so why not?

Happy with the Cammi move, not crazy about the length of the contract but thats what happens. Most of our FA signings need to be convinced to come here so 500k more per year and an extra year or 2 in a contract locks them up. It is what it is.I think he nets between 23 - 27 which is exactly what this team needs.

Like the Havlet move since its a low risk, high reward signing. If he sucks, he gets benched but maybe playing with his friends will light a fire under him.

But we do have a surplus of forwards now in resigning Gionta and Bernier which I'm not crazy about. Should have let them walk and have a 4th line of Brunner, JJ and Ruutu/Zubrus.

The team is in better shape than before and the East is so weak when compared to the West. Some of those teams are just loaded with talent.

Lou isn't going to get any value with these extra guys so hopefully they get moved for picks.

He's our 2nd best PK centerman.
He's talented enough to play 3rd line minutes and does not look lost when playing with superstars.
We really don't know what he can offer in a positive work environment.

He just happens to be on Pete's shitlist so he's been jerked around for the past 3 years. Larsson has been handled the same way. The only reason people aren't talking about Larsson like he's an AHL regular bust is because he was picked #4 overall.

Pete isn't going anywhere so its probably best just to trade both of them. There is no way off Pete's shitlist. Just think of Grabner in Florida.

Anyone think Carter wont be back? Little concerned that because he hasnt resigned yet he probably wont.

Perhaps JJ can center the CBGB line?

I like Carter but we really can't afford to bring him back, financially or roster wise.

Got to disagree, He's definetly behind Zajac and Elias who mostly centers on the PK and when Henrique centers he's behind him too

Elias and Henrique are better PKers but they are used as 'wingers' in the PK situations. Neither take the faceoff since they both suck at them. Gionta is the other PKer and he was used as the centerman taking the faceoffs. He's the 2nd best mostly because nobody else consistently plays center.

During the lockout year, JJ was PDB's go to penalty killer averaging the most time among forwards, basically tied with Zubrus. He was pretty good at FO% too if I remember right. Not amazing like Travis, but serviceable.

I don't know why they won't let the kid try and get into a rhythm. He's got to be better than any of CBGB.

Anything on Brodeur? I have a feeling that his only chance will come once the season starts and some team needs a goalie. Kind of sad.
