They run the ball well because the pass sets it up, when everyone except the linemen are playing to defend the pass, running gets easy.

So what does Oklahoma do to defend that in your opinion? Besides keeping their offense off the field as much as possible.

Is that supposed to somehow take away from my point?

If OU had a running game to keep BU's offense off the field, the Sooners would have a chance in this game. But OU hasn't had a running game in years......

They're #1 in Total Offense and #11 in Total Defense.

The competition has been weak, but it's hard to see Baylor losing as of right now

I honestly have no idea what to expect in this one. I've said all along I wouldn't touch this game.

If you gave me OU +20 I wouldn't touch it; and if you gave me Baylor -3 I wouldn't touch it.

But I sure will be watching!

Iowa State players on Baylor:

“That’s why you come to play in the Big 12,” said LB Luke Knott, the Cyclones’ third-leading tackler. “To face an offense like that and try to find solutions to a powerhouse offense like that.”

A missed tackle means six.

Missed assignment?

Six.

“They’ve got speed everywhere,” ISU safety and second-leading tackler Jacques Washington said.

My take on the game. OU has a great secondary and Baylor has a great group of WRs. The big issue is OU have been run over in the rushing game since injuries. Both Kansas and Texas went for well over 4 yards a carry. I see Baylor going for 150-200 yds rushing and their offense humming. OU is goign to have to run it to win the game and slow down the Baylor offense. I think OU keeps it close and Baylor pulls away late. I am considering taking the under and giving the pts or vice versa. Have not figured out which way I like better. I figure OU covers than the score is most likely below 72.

the Stoops Bros comment on the Baylor offense:

Bob Stoops:

Stoops said the Bears like to spread defenses out with Petty and their speedy wide receivers, then attack in the middle of the field with running back Lache Seastrunk, who has rushed for 869 yards and 11 touchdowns. That combination limits the number of things an opposing defense can do, Stoops said.

"You can only do so much, in that ... when they line two guys up all the way out there," he said, pointing one way, "and all the way out there," pointing the other way, "you've got to go out and cover them, so there's only so many left.

"At the end of the day, there's only so much you can do. You have to be able to play. You've got to be able to cover them out there and you've got to be able to stop the run game with what's left in here."

Mike Stoops:

"They have great speed on the perimeter and they use it and they isolate you," he said. "That, to me, is what is stressful about it. They run the football. They create so much room on the football field that most people can't or don't do.

"It's hard to get underneath help because the splits are so wide. It's hard to get people underneath. Everything is isolated and it's hard to buy help for corners and safeties and all of that. Again, they know what they are doing and they are very effective."

compare to Bruce Feldman, CBSSports.com...

"It's a very unique scheme they have. Art (Briles) keeps re-inventing the wheel there. Their wide receivers are (lined up) wider this year. They'll put three wide receivers out by the numbers on the field side, and even if you try and go three-on-three, you've lost a support player (for the run game) and they really put you in a bind because they have this huge O-line with really tight splits and all their runs tend to be big 'bounce' runs where you get bunched in the middle and they have so much speed now to bounce outside. So, you end up overloading outside to try and deal with all the bubble screens, and then they run by you and throw it over the top or they hand it off to Seastrunk and he runs for 60. Plus, they go so fast and everything is off play-action, your linebackers and safeties are always in a quandary. "They just stress you so much schematically. They are for real. I am going to be very curious to watch the rest of the season to see how people try and defend them."

The Sports Xchange:

"If the Baylor Bears were a boxer, that boxer would be begging for a title bout. ... Baylor is definitely a heavyweight, as evidenced by how effectively the Bears KO their foes."
