Benoit is a fine 8th inning set up man. maybe the best in the game. It is stretching him out to be a closer full time. DD seems to think they is a ton of closers out there. like signing 1 is a piece of cake. we shall see.

If Benoit is re-signed, I'd rather it be for setup. Jon Heyman's free agent rankings have Benoit #3 among FA relievers. That's probably inflated due to his regular season success as a closer last year (24-of-26 saves). I'm not sure at age 36 that he'll get more than a 2-year deal anywhere. Of course, the #1 ranked FA reliver is Joe Nathan, who turns 39 on Nov. 22, though he did have an exceptional season in 2013. #2 is Grant Balfour, who I'm guessing has Detroit well down on his list of places to go.

the Tigers should be going for KRod, if they want the best steal of the FA Closers...he is going to be the best off season value for the money.

Tigers need to not only decide on a closer....they need to get at least one lefty specialist for the pen. Even if they keep Smyly in the bullpen, they need to improve over Coke and Downs. Boone Logan wouldn't be a bad choice.

Im assuming benoit will be looking for closer money so unless hes willing to take less he wont be back.

What? Im sorry, should that make sense, are you calling me boorish, arrogant, and rude? Because I certainly never take nasty potshots at indians players or their fans every chance I get. In fact I never say anything negative about them. But you sir and your good friend bums spend the majority of your time doing just that with tigers players. Hell, bums even trolled the tigers thread and stalked some dude there. You should keep better company, people might respect your opinion if you did and it wasnt biased toward one team or fanbase.
