Sure was.... you ever see Blake Tibbs that played for King last year? He was a beast.
Yea, he is part of the reason I think Stanford was over looked, everyone wanted in on Tibbs and Stanford was just not looked at for some reason until late in his year at MLK.

Fuller had a shoulder contusion (according to the broadcast) but was still in pads and helmet on the sideline at the game. I dont think VT gives an injury report until Thursdays but I am going to assume Fuller will be back.

Looks like Wang may go Saturday? From AB's blog sounds like he his still not even really close to 100%. He hasn't exactly been pancaking people so not sure why he would be a go or at least get any significant amount of plays. I think a 100% Arkema (or someone else) might be better than a 75% Wang. Just my take.

I know this is kindof out of place here, but what is the story on the redshirt petitions for Stanford and Clarke?? I didn't think this is even a possibility after having this many plays. Injuries haven't been spoken of, so I am not sure why they would grant them a redshirt for this season after playing 10-30 plays?? Not liking the chances on this one...but maybe I just don't know the rules??

Stanford and Clarke will be getting a RS IMO. Stanford suffered an injury in the AP game I believe, and they will apply for a MRS. They are trying to RS Clarke as well. There are a few ways they can do this, it depends on the number of snaps played and the times in which they are played (early or late in the season). It is difficult for Clarke but it could happen, trust in the coaches.

This came up like a month ago, about conditions for redshirting. I am almost certain that you are correct about the # of snaps restriction, but some people including AB didn't think it worked like that. Hope it works out.

Pretty sure that the number of snaps is for the medical redshirt. For a standard redshirt, if you play one snap then you have lost the opportunity to redshirt for that season.

I sort of thought that, but I know last year we played Joey Van Z in bball for a few minutes and then decided to redshirt him...

I am not sure what the exception is, Clarke is not injured that I know of, but they are pushing for the RS. Stanford should be fairly easy with his injury, Clarke on the other hand will be handled with care.

Was Stanford's injury season ending? I never really heard of anything serious or if it's just a hammy or something that they are using to get the redshirt

Bitter said Stanford is practicing, and not in blue. Doesn't seem like he'd be a candidate for a medical redshirt, but what do I know... Maybe there's a provision where you can get a medical redshirt even if the injury wasn't season ending?

I thought JVZ only played in the preseason, not in any real games.

Medical Hardship Waiver...Medical Redshirt

Criteria:

Incapacitating injury or illness occurs in one of four seasons of competition at a two-year or four-year collegiate institution;

Injury or illness occurs prior to the first competition of the second half of the playing season that concludes with NCAA championship (“championship segment”); and

Injury or illness occurs when SA has not participated in more than three contests or dates of competition or 30 percent.

See NCAA Division I Bylaw 14.2.4-(c) and 14.2.4-(d) regarding team vs. individual sport distinction.
Incapacitating to me means that you physically cannot perform for the entire athletic year. Haven't heard these guys are incapacitated???

Incapacitating doesn't really have anything to do with a timeframe for the injury/illness. You could be completely incapacitated with a virus one day and back to it a week later. Odd that they don't get a little more specific there and say how long you have to be incapacitated. That really leaves it open. Maybe they will try for a medical RS for Stanford, saying he was incapacitated with his knee injury for enough games that, even though he's better now, he missed key playing time to the point where he's too behind at this point to get into games... or something like that.

They better know what they're doing or this is real big deal wasting a year for 2 potentially very good players. Wow
