They didn't kill it with the Trey Lance debacle. But the Brock Purdy steal sort of erased it. It's like they traded 2 firsts to get a franchise QB and they succeeded just with a different draft slot lol
Admittedly, they got a little lucky finding Purdy but they also did their homework. They had trouble finding a QB before that. I would say JimmyG was somewhat a mistake as well. Yes, they won games and got to the SB and multiple CGs but JimmyG held that offense back and couldn't stay healthy. I think Purdy has allowed them to do what they did well and also open up the other things in the offense. CMC has obviously been huge and worked out great as most people were questioning whether he could stay healthy. It's really the perfect situation for them right now. Can't really fault them on the rare mistakes because they found ways to correct them.

So glad we can finally put the dumbass Purdy crap to rest. CMAC again is way more of an MVP than dumbass Brock Purdy on the 49ers... yet QBs just win everything... Just call it MVQB and then MVEE (Most Valuable Everything Else).

Purdy is NOW on pace to put up same stats as Geno... the difference is almost every position on the 49ers is BETTER than Seattle's and if Geno was on the San Fran 49ers last season he'd be performing the same if not better.

Ive said it for awhile now,CMC was the best player on that team......
You can interchange most qbs for Purdy, and the 9ers still would have been the 9ers,but there is no way you can interchange CMC........

This has been my MVP vote since week 8 in order:
Tyreke(lol wjen people were thinking Tua)
Dak
CMC ( lol at the Purdy voters)
Now its probably Lamar.....

Another Ravens ass kicking vs the Dolphins this weekend, and Lamar will put a firm grasp on the mvp.......

And one ladt thing......

Anyone believe this is the point where BP finally falls back to earth.....??

If you’re a 9ers fan you have a solid excuse.

If you’ve argued for Baker Mayfield and Justin Fields, just start your short week and ignore football.

That’s a factor in MVP voting?

you said he personifies winning? Shouldn't he prove he can do it when the lights are brightest first? Yesterday was a nice step but again his issue has never been that he can't play very well with a lead. The issue is when they need him to make a big throw to win a game more often than not he can't do it.

When the D knows he's throwing and they can play him that way it hurts his effectiveness.

C Mac or Hill gets my vote this year but we all know Lamar gonna get it. And that's fine but he's gotta take that next step in the playoffs for his legacy.

It's funny no matter how many times I've stated very clearly the scope of which I'm making the Fields argument we still take it somewhere else. I've never argued he belongs on a plane of top qbs.

I think the Niners getting to the Super Bowl with Jimmy G and Mostert makes me think the real award winner on the Niners is Kyle Shanahan
Pretty valid, tbh. Will say I think Purdy is at least a legitimate solid QB at this point.

Jimmy G was only ever fake good, imo. As much of a "system QB" as it gets.

Thankfully that ends the Purdy nonsense.

Some people like to get carried away by their emotions instead of being analytically accurate.

MVP is a regular season award, voting is done before playoffs even start.

obviously. I'm just not sure we can put "personifies winning" on his mantle just yet.

he has as many 4th qtr comebacks and playoff wins as the maligned Baker Mayfield and 5 fewer comebacks than Goff and 2 fewer playoff wins.

I appreciate I'm taking this conversation in a direction other than the OP though so I will stop there. My apologies.

Last night highlighted the reason a RB is rarely considered. They become a non-factor, or at least much less of one, when their team is down a couple of scores in the 2nd half. I have it Lamar - CMC - Tyreek at this point.

Talking last year Geno. He's got a higher average, but not too far off. And the 49ers offensive roster last year (and this year) are superior to Seattle. Seattle might be better in a couple once the younger crew get up to speed, but for now the 49ers offensive unit is still better.

Whatever, comparison aside, I think everyone with a functioning brain can agree Brock Purdy being MVP would be the dumbest MVP in NFL history.
