I nominate Eric Davis for the Hall of Great but Couldn't Stay on the Field.

4 time all star in 5 seasons in the early 90s. I'm assuming you must be a bit younger than me then.
35. Cubs fan entrenched watching NL ball back then.

Fryman was good. Good run production on a bad team that had a solid impact on a good Indians team at the end. But, I maintain the only thing he had on Koskie was service time.

To answer earlier question, it's debatable if the Twins would have replaced Koskie with Young. Would lean no... Young's offensive numbers were inflated by his ballpark a bit. And history shows in spite of that GG he was an awful defender, just awful.

If anything the Twins would have taken him over Christian Guzman.

As a Cubs fan I could have told you Baez would have been bad for the Tigers… Different argument altogether.

It doesn’t matter if it’s on page one or five, the only thing that’s evident is that you’re too pompous and arrogant to admit that Koskie is better that you thought he was.

It’s OK to be wrong. I undervalued Koskie for most of my existence as well…
Never thought I'd see a Corey Koskie fanatic

I guess you are putting Buster Posey in first ballot then?

Have to look and see how he measures, but sounds like a solid candidate with an MVP, three WS rings, plus went out w/ a bang having a big 2021.

Koskie's a baller, Posey might be a 'solid candidate', you'll have to take a look.

God damn you're stupid lol

Thought you were talking about HOF? That's the case yeah I'd put Posey in and therefore he's too good for this thread.

I guess my point is if you think Koskie is 'very good' you must think Posey is one of the best catchers in history. Because they both had shorter careers.

Utley was tracking towards the HOF the first half of his career.

Edgar Martinez was one of the more obvious juicers to me. He suddenly turned into a superhero at age 32. It doesn’t work like that.
Wat? He was a .300 hitter at 27 & 28 and led the league in hitting at 29. How did he "turn into a superhero at age 32"?

Edgar had a career OPS+ of 133 before his '95 season. He was already a great hitter. He had a 164 OPS+ in '92 as well.

Catchers are held to a somewhat different standard. In this case, Posey's three rings cancel out his relatively short career.

And an MVP award. How many catchers have won that?
That sounds like a trivia question. Off the top of my head Posey, Munson, Bench, Berra, Mauer, Campanella (I think Bench, Campanella, Berra won multiple) That's all I got. Did they have the MVP award when Mickey Cochrane was playing?

He was always a great hitter. I’m not disputing that. It’s his power game that suddenly developed at age 32. His career high prior to that was 18. Suddenly he jumped to 29. By 2000(during the height of the steroid era) he hit 37HR at age 37. Suspect as hell.
