RW is a proven veteran with a few years left in the tank. The mark of a great QB is to be able change team and continue producing, do as well or better than on previous team. Time will tell.

It actually seems somewhat rare for a top 10 QB to change teams and struggle.

That is the point. So RW is like a fish in the water?

I think the expectation is that he is going to keep looking like RW next year at the very least.

If anything a lot of them get a nice spark added back into their career. Manning and Brady both played some of their best football after leaving to another team. Matthew Stafford it could be argued just had his best season of his career. So the whole wait and see thing doesn't fully add up when thinking of getting this contract done. Better to get it done early and get them locked in before they put up career numbers and make that contract jump by 5-10%.

Honestly, there is more risk here for RW staying in Denver than Denver locking down RW. If RW is there to win Super Bowls then he certainly picked one of the harder paths. So did Stafford but the Rams do have that f' them picks all-in strategy that may or may not be appealing for Denver to duplicate if put in a similar situation.

Well it was a good deal for the Bronco's, they were going to have to extend him after giving up so much for him and this contract was about as good as they could have hoped for. Guess my but is I felt RW game has been fading, but the change of scenery could be just what was needed.

Russell Wilson is such a unique QB that his two closest statisitcal comparisons are Cam Newton and Peyton Manning. If you think he can age like Peyton then you're probably getting about 4 more years of elite top tier QB play and this topic is a total joke. If you think he is like Cam Newton then you think he is going to flop completely in Denver. Truth is probably somewhere inbetween but its a no-brainer move for Denver imo.

Not sure I agree with the popular narrative that Seattle is in the bottom tier of teams next year. They had one bad year in like a decade and now everyone is acting like Wilson is washed and their roster will have the top pick next year. They were in the toughest division in football and had a down year. Not a lot to freak out about.

He’s definitely better than Cam Newton, and it’s not even close .. Only concern I had with Wilson while in Seattle was he’s lost some quickness and he wasn’t as effective at extending plays like he was earlier in his career and that’s a big part of what made him so difficult to deal with… He’s still a top 5 QB though and Denver fans are gonna love what he brings…

It's a good deal and both will benefit from it.

Absurd. Cousins has been to the playoffs twice and won one game. I would swap QBs with Denver in a New York second, despite my reservations about the back end of Wilson's contract.
Concerns such as? It's essentially a 4 year deal, with savings and dead money zeroing out at about year 4. If he continues to play well the contract stays in place the last two years. Frankly its about as team friendly a deal as any top caliber qb has given a team since Brady or Manning's 20mm per year deals.

They could still end up with like the 5th or 6th worst record just due to still being in a tough division and now without a QB. Im just not seeing #1 overall bad when you have DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, etc. Drafted maybe the top RB coming out although he might be a little banged up. Pete Carroll doesnt seem like a tanker, either.

With 2 1sts and 2 2nds next year they don't need to be #1 pick bad to end up with a top QB prospect. Oline has been addressed for the future, so things are lined up well to use some picks to get the guy they want. Ending up with 5 or 6 wins, they'll likely only have to move up 3 or 4 spots for a top 2 kind of guy. Teams like Jacksonville, NYJ, and Chicago all have QBs they're committed to, so Houston is the only other team I see picking at the top that should be grabbing one of the top guys.

Brady and Manning are different types of QBs. If Russell doesn't run, it diminishes his value. If he continues to run, the odds of him staying healthy go significantly down.

I'm not saying one way or the other, because if he gets you back to a Super Bowl, it will have been worth it no question. I'm just saying the end of that deal could look ugly.

Russell Wilson isn’t going to get hurt because of his athleticism declining. Dude is amazing at avoiding hard contact.
