You're right about the tantrum but not so sure about the call. PJ was signalling well before he had control just in case. Shoulda been another jump ball and you know it

The refs were late on awarding the timeout but it is really clear on replay that the correct call was made. The incorrect call would have been a jump ball when the Hornets player had called for timeout well before the tie up occurred.

Rodman wasn't dick without stars either. I'm not saying Dray is an all-star anymore, nor am I saying he can ever be the #1 or #2 on a good team. Doesn't change how valuable he is to THIS team

Refs out of control. They just ejected JJ Redick over nothing. All he did was spin the ball as he passed it to the ref after the ref called a foul that Redick drew (so there's no reason to be mad). Totally nothing

This ain’t a hot take. Draymond's emotional issues have been a problem for years, so has his shooting. He's still a positive on defense, but his overall BPM is negative now going back to last season, probably because his shooting is so brutal. Is there another starting power forward in the NBA who is shooting 35.9% on FG? I think it's fair to wonder if they can construct a better team for future years without him.

Imo, you're too focused on his scoring. Yes, his shooting, which has never exactly been his strength anyway, has gotten worse. But the W's have never relied on him for his shooting. Honestly, I think the only real difference between his shooting now and his shooting earlier in his career is that he used to hit big shots for you guys from time to time, now he doesn't.

Additionally, much of the value he brings to the team isn't quantifiable statistically. For example, he can have a low assist total in a game and still be as or more responsible for the team performing well offensively as the guy who scored 20 or the one who had 10 assists. The reason is because he keeps the ball moving. Without that, the W's aren't nearly as efficient offensively. If the NBA had such a category, Draymond would be among the league leaders in the "hockey assist".

I'm not claiming he's some star either. This is going to be an odd comparison, but he's a lot like Luke Walton on the Shaq/Kobe Lakers. Luke was barely an NBA level talent and would have been an end of the bench guy on just about any other team in the league. But Phil loved him and played him a lot more than his talent dictated. He did that because Luke knew the triangle so well, that when the Lakers were struggling with it, Phil would put him in the game to get the offense back on track.

Obviously, Dray is better than Luke, but as far as their role and what they mean to the team, they're comparable.

And since he only takes 5-6 shots per game, his shooting percentages don’t hurt as much.

I really like the Rodman comparison. He just provides assists and ball handling instead of elite rebounding.

Rodman was never going to lead a team anywhere. But as a complimentary piece on a loaded roster, he can be tremendously valuable.
