So far the NFL is saying they still plan on having a season. But I believe there is still a solid chance that it could get cancelled like all the other sports have seen happen.
If the season actually does get scrapped what does that do to some older player's careers? I think it would be a career ender for guys like Brees and Brady for sure. They are already old by NFL standards. And if they have to come back in September of 2021 after not playing since Dec/Jan of the 2019 season I don't think their old bodies will be capable of shaking off that much rust. If a player's last game was in the playoffs in January 2019 and they don't play another real game until September 2021 that is 20 months without playing. Their legs and arms would lose too much to come back I think.
Other guys on the bubble would have to be Roethlisberger, Rivers, and possibly even Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers would be nearing 38 years old starting the 2021 season.
There's a chance that Brady and Rivers will never get to play for their new teams.
