Probably. But it looks like Oakland is doing everything they can to salvage the situation.

I hope they can work something out. After that weasel Art Modell moved the Browns outta town over a stadium issue I don't like to see stuff like that happen to other teams, no matter what sport.

if you are talking about how I dont think the Warriors can pay Klay Thompson and keep the core of Draymond, Klay, Durant and Curry together long term---- and somehow you are comparing that to Gilbert and the Cavs- let me take this opportunity to set you straight.

1. In order to keep Dray, Klay, Durant and Curry together for long term past NEXT YEAR after the 2018-2019 season- it would cost a LOT more than what Gilbert is paying - and Gilbert is paying the most in the league by a large margin. There is a large difference between dropping - say- $170-180M a year on payroll and luxury tax (like Gilbert has this year and last)---

and say the estimated 240M Show me the money: Can the Warriors keep it together? (as this projection had the cap at 108M and it will really be 103M- hence the addition of 25M on my estimate) - the 240 estimated in 2019/2020, and only rising from there- going up to as much as 340 million A YEAR in 2021/2022.

That is not sustainable no matter what your revenues are- as per the whole design/implementation/point of the luxury tax in the first place

2. Gilbert could buy and sell Lacob 4 times over and still have half a bill left for pocket change.

If you actually read the article it outlines ways that the Warriors are not only going to be flush with cash, but have multiple ways to keep the core intact. They made a 92M profit last year. Additionally they signed an endorsement deal with Rakuten for 20M more a year.

The PSL from the new arena could generate an influx of 300M in cash. And on top of that the new TV deal is up which is going to provide a significant boost in revenue.

After that 2021-22 season, Durant and Curry could opt to take a bit less to reduce the tax threshold.

Dude, read the article first. It actually hurts your argument if you read it through.

@CitySushi what i am saying is that next year is likely the last year that Klay/Durant/Curry/Dray will all be together.

There is a slim-to-none chance they can afford to re-up Klay for the 20/21 season. Say slim to none comes in and they resign Klay to 27M a year- which would be fairly cheap---- there is NO FUCKING CHANCE they could re-up Draymond the following year and keep the whole team together.

There is a 90% chance next year is the last year of the Golden State Big 4.

There is a 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% chance and there is no way in FUCK that the Big 4 will be on the Warriors for the 21/22 season.

This is not the Warriors fault- and it doesnt mean they are cheap. Its a fiscal reality based on the collective bargaining agreement.

That's fine if that's your take. I have no problems with it.

But thinking the Warriors cannot or will not pay ridiculous salaries, but the owner of your favorite team will (and you herald it as such) is just flawed logic.

Kinda feel sorry for Oakland sports fans. First the Raiders leave for Sin City. Now the Warriors are bolting for the Bay. Will it only be a matter of time before the A's leave over the stadium issue?
Yep.

I'm not a baseball fan, so don't know what stadium issue you're referring to. But, they should be happy now that they don't have to share with either GS or Raiders for much longer.

GS playing in SF isn't going to be much of a big deal. It will be a much nicer arena, in a great area & easily accessible via public transportation. I'm excited to see it once it's finished.

lol, holy shit are you going off the rails. Are you sure there is not an ostrich that enjoys putting its head in the sand somewhere in your family true?

AFTER the 2021/22 season? lol. Uhhh, Klay is up after the 18/19 season and draymond after 19/20 season. I have no CLUE how giving up money in the 22/23 season is going to help when there payroll/tax expenditure would be about 350M IN ONE FUCKING YEAR for 2021/2022 replacing the optimistic salary cap/lux tax projections with ones that are more current .

Its simple math there slick. That chart OVERESTIMATED the salary cap and luxury tax line. Those numbers in tere are LOW....and those LOW numbers are impossible to maintain. Not only that--- but thats estimating that the ENTIRE rest of the roster only makes about 26M.

Joe Lacob's net worth - googled- is listed at 1.5B. Gilbert is worth- listed on Google- about 6.5B

The most EVER spent by an NBA team in a 3 year period is the Cavs the last 3 years- counting this year- at about a total of 460M over the last 3 years---an average expenditure of about $153M a year.

In order for the Warriors to stay together- keep all 4 guys through the 2021/2022 season- for the years 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 would be about 895 million, or about 298M per year.

If you think thats possible I just dont know what to tell ya man. I might as well be talking to a wall.

not when you look at the actual numbers....but if you want to whitewash over it with generalities because you know digging in and actually analyzing it would make you look foolish- have fun with your head in the sand.

like i said- its not about the Warriros being cheap- its about the CBA doing what the CBA was designed to do.

Yea BART is nice if you're planning to go into SF or Berkeley as there is very limited parking & it's very expensive. But the amount of commuters one has to encounter on the BART really is too much. I am glad I only have to come into the office 3 days a week - sometimes less.

If I remember the A's play in the most outdated MLB stadium in the country. And I don't think they have spent alotta money on renovations over the years.

I've never disputed that it's entirely possible the Warriors go in a different direction.

But to just disregard how creative the Warriors have been in the past with their contracts and the influx of cash coming in to making retaining the core possible is nonsense.

I actually have dug in and looking at the financial aspects it's doable for the Warriors in the sense that ultimately they could potentially retain all the players, at their estimated figures, and still be in the black. Again the article YOU posted, even outlines it.

no--- its not nonsense. Its reality. Its the CBA doing waht the CBA was designed to do

No one can carry 4 maxes into the repeater no matter how creative they are (ESPECIALLY 2 super maxes). Its the CBA doing waht the CBA was designed to do.

You seem like the type who would enjoy talking to a wall. At GREAT length. With lots of repetitive comments.

Fair enough. Again, I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying if there's any way for the Warriors to get creative, they will. It's in their best interest to retain as great of a team as possible. They will need to, to keep up interest in the new arena. Short term spending outweighs the long term cash influx sponsorships and the new arena will bring.
