Yeah. $16.9M in dead money this season for Dez and Romo... and next year both are off the books. In time for the next round of contracts.
Man that Romo contract was handled horribly. One of the worst ever. It wasn't a bad deal for Dallas in terms of total $'s of course, but the way we restructured it screwed us for years and still is

I guess it started with Ware ....the Cowboys (or should I say Jerry) are not getting tied up emotionally anymore with these guys.

Dez was not even close to being the same player. That is just a pure fact.
But the guy is only 29. The question was could he fix what was broken.

Why pay to find out when you could get someone for nothing to match the current production.

As good as Dez once was , I always thought his best asset was his end zone presence with his open field running ability second. I think he still has both. Maybe not the way it once was but close. They started taking him away more in the end zone, but it freed up Witten more down there. At least that's what I thought anyway. I just think the threat alone will be missed. It's not like he has been blocking anyone from becoming great. Hate to see him go.

I'll be honest, I wanted Dez in Dallas, but at a reduced price. My guess is he sat down and Jerry offered a pay cut, Dez said no, Jerry stood up shook Dez's hand and said congratulations you are now a FA.

In spite of me thinking Dez was a below average WR last year, I was on the fence about this release....

That was until seeing Dez reaction after the release. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

He's on Twitter talking shit right now.

Ware didn't leave like this.

Witten WOULDN'T leave like this.

Not even Team Obliterator left the Cowboys like this.

Saying "see you twice next year?"

Honestly, fuck Dez Bryant.

I loved Dez. Thought he was special especially with Romo. Sure Dak isn't going to take as many chances as Romo did, and obviously Dezs numbers were affected by it. We have really never seen Julio without Ryan. This is why I think Hopkins is a top 2-3 WR in the NFL. He does it no matter who the Qb is.
Maybe now you can change your name to RomoToDez.

JMO, but I think the way Dez quit on so many routes last season ended it for Stephen Jones. I have no doubt Jerry would have welcomed Dez back at a discount. Stephen wanted him gone, period, and Stephen is the one running the show now

I can see Dez signing with either Green Bay or New England.

Someone is going to get Dez. My guess, is the best he's going to get is 7.2 for 1 year. He's not going to get 12.5 and I don't even think he'll get 8. Anything more than 1 year will see an average of about 5.5.

As much as it's true that Jerry needs to learn to quit talking about this shit in public, Dez should too. He put himself in a no-win situation when he stated emphatically that he would not be taking a pay cut.

What happened today is what was best for the team.
