Yeah, I thought about a few different things myself. For instance, even though TB's been out the last 2 years. Maybe he's upped his mental game, but the comparisons to Haynesworth and AA are imo off-base. Haynesworth was a lazy slob who you knew would be a sad sack of shit considering the contract Snyder bribed him with. He did have talent though. AA was full on scrub and made no sense signing as all that along with signing Landry to a ridiculous contract was insuring Sean Taylor would leave DC left via FA. Both were two of the worst signings in semi-recent and not so recent history.

I don't think that I made a TB comparison to Haynesworth. That reference was related to misfits in our history.

TB is a horrible fit in this offense. He can’t throw on time and has questionable accuracy at best.

After re-reading my last response to you, I realized that I omitted something. I wrote: "OK, if you say so then that's it." which should have been preceded with, I have been reading your postings on the subject and rather than asking you to repeat what I already know about your views on him, I'll just say, ...

For the same reason Oswieler got paid by Huston. There is a dearth at the position. And while its great to say there is so much talent at QB in this draft, half the reason we are debating on if we should pay Cousins is, a rookie is an unknown. BRidewater is ho hum according to us. But all it takes is one coach to say.. I can make this guy "special" and he will get paid. I think he is going to get the new normal for a starting QB which is going to be in the $22M a year range.

You could be right, but I will make a bet with you that he doesn't receive anywhere near that money w/ his next contract. BTW - guys like Osweiller also might make it tougher for Bridgewater since teams will be reluctant to go for the risky, non-sure thing QB especially if they need to commit to him long term - we will see.

I don't think there is a way to know who can or can't operate well in this system. All you can do is evaluate what has already been seen. Statistically Teddy has been mediocre when he played. Not bad, not great. Many offenses and QBs flourish under Norv, Teddy did not. That does not mean Teddy would suck under Gruden. Only way to find out is to try it.

If KC is going to let Alex Smith go I would be more inclined to go that route. More experience, no recent health issues etc. Yes it would be a stop gap so you would be looking for his eventual replacement just like Andy was doing when the took Mahomes. This would not be my preferred direction but the one I would pursue if you knew you weren't going to sign Cousin's

If the above happened I would look for:

Re-sign Brown
Vea or Payne in the draft
Keep an eye out for a guy you might like at QB in the draft .... there are however some good guys going to come out next year also.

You have dad and while my lazy self could go back a few years to look, its not worth my time. Look, quite frankly I'm tired of all the KC talk. Everyone is posing, saying things, trying to make one's self look better on the surface for the sake of interviews and keeping things professional if you will... Maybe a gag order moving forward on this KC situation would be best for everyone, including all posters here.
i wont go gag order , the board would shut down

LOL. Yep - the majority of the normal threads here are related to Cousins in one form or another. What else would be discussed if that topic was off limits? Brown resigning? Replacing Deuce Gruden? Cmon - get serious.

In a normal situation

Who should we draft
What free agents should we target
Should the Coach be on the hot seat
Should we still be trying to run a 3-4 defense

Meanwhile in Ashburnistan

All things revolve around the QB situation that should have been solved a year ago.

Well - nobody is stopping anyone here from talking about any of those topics. Let's be real - if Cousins is a non-topic this forum will be just about dead (save for a few draft threads).

I would be fine with the draft and FA threads.

Just think both are pointless at the moment because they will lead back to

What are we going to do at QB.

Well we may not root for a playoff team, but at least we have a hot topic to discuss. Look at the boards for some of the other teams. Some of them barely discuss anything on a given day or even much longer that that. Redskins may not provide wins, but they provide topics for conversation - woo hoo.

Let's be real. The out come of the KC situation is critical to the strategy going forward for all personnel actions. If he is here, your draft focus turns to other areas. IF he is not, it changes everything. Agreed, no way you can limit those discussions.

I'll add...How long should Bruce Allen remain on payroll/what can be done to get rid of him.

You really believe that Bridgewater is going to get that kind of money from anyone? If so there is something seriously wrong w/ the NFL & QB contracts. The guy hasn't played in 2 years, only played 2 years prior to that, put up very mediocre stats, had one losing season, another winning season primarily due to AP (several games his contributions were pretty weak). This is not like Cousins, Carr or Stafford where they put up monster #s & at least led their team to some success and/or were coming off a good season.

Please tell me exactly why a ho-hum QB (w/ lots of questions marks) would command that type of money. I don't see it (& I think that he appears to be a great guy - just not impressive as a QB - at least not proven yet).

There's already something seriously wrong with QB contracts. RC has it that Aaron Rodgers might be looking for a 200 million dollar deal and that the 9ers need to pony up 150 mill with 75-80 mill guaranteed. To do right by Jimmy G and he's played what? A total of 7 games.

I don't think any one hits $200M this year.... but within five years, some one will hit that number.

I didn't either 2 days ago. But if Ryan, Kirk, and Jimmy G all garner 150 million dollar contracts, well, who knows?

I predict this will be a major topic with the next CBA. These owners have got to get a handle on this.

Well I realize that from an owner's perspective they want to control costs. However from a cap perspective I really like the idea of being able to exempt one position from the cap (almost always QB). You could also do this in conjunction w/ some type of luxury tax like they do in NBA & MLB.

Again - go back to the WP article that I posted here about Allen's key role in getting a new stadium in VA. I truly believe that he is here for the long haul. Perhaps he can go back to more of an admin role & they can again consider getting a true GM, but I think that he stays w/ this team in some capacity for a very long time. On this one I would really like to be wrong.
