I'm surprised the game hasn't slowed down for him yet. I loved Bolles tude fire need that on the line.

I really do think this competition is getting to him a bit. He was having a great offseason and start to camp from what I understand but the last week and a half has just seem him fall flat on his face. He has 9 days here to get his head back and in the game. Otherwise have to go with Siemian and see what happens.

Didn't everyone agree that when Lynch was drafted it was going to take him a few years to develop? Not sure why everyone seems to be so down a guy who we all knew wasn't NFL ready. He's coming along exactly as we initially thought, he needs a few years but he's doing nothing that we didn't already know.

I get he was a 1st round pick and people want to see him do well but you can't say it's gonna take him a few years to develop when he's drafted and then get disappointed when he's not blowing people away in year 2.

That's what I remember, Duff. He was "raw." That's why I don't buy the narrative that he's a bust or disappointment if he doesn't beat out Siemian for the job. I think it's reasonable to really expect him to take a leap forward next year. It'll be his third in the league and hopefully second in this offense. The only way I can see him not winning the job next year is if Siemian plays himself into indespensable status, capped off with a Super Bowl win. And in that case we're no worse off for Lynch not working out for us.

I think the concern is that we see no improvement so far. I don't think anyone here has stated that they have given up on Paxton, but I think there is reason for concern. Especially when your GM is out looking at other QB options (as reported) if true. The reports of him not picking up on things isn't too exciting..

Hopefully he puts it together soon. He should be further along then he was a year ago and he doesn't appear to be.

The first series of the game should remind everyone that this D is elite.
Siemian has done more with less and is serviceable but I am disappointed that Lynch has not progressed . The longer this drags out the longer the offense is behind
And solidifies my point this is about Elway getting his guy one last chance
I'm not sure he deserves to start against SF.

I guess the coaches are waiting for an a ha moment that may not come.

I don't know that it is about "deserving to start" though. We have to see what we have and give him a half or whatever it is we feel we need to see out of him.

Elway drafted a Tebow without the leadership qualities. J/K kinda but he did look Teboweques last night.

What makes this infuriating and points to the FO is no matter what QB is out there the feeling does not inspire any excitement for me as a fan. Siemian looks like he can at least play in the NFL . Lynch does not. These talented players many who are now at your local busstop (thanks Bill Parcells for the quote) just confuses the hell out of me. How hard is it to go through your damn reads. Stand in here, climb the ladder and find the window.

I'm fine giving Paxton Lynch the start in preseason game number two but he'll need to have an amazing week to steal the job from Siemian at this point. Looks to me like we'll open against the Chargers with Siemian under center and go from there. I wouldn't be surprised to see both quarterbacks play this year but it's pretty depressing that we haven't shown much progress from that position in general. The offense just needs to rise to average and the Broncos have a shot at the playoffs with that defense.

Sloter looked pretty awesome going up against Chicago's third stringers.

And then VJ comes out after the game and says this " Paxton made some impressive throws". I saw one impressive throw period . TS found DT on 3rd and 11. Otherwise it was a bunch of slant patterns which is a basically a no read type throw.

At this point, give the job to Trevor, set your Oline starters and build some consistency. Tell Trevor to be a leader and be more aggressive without having to worry about making a mistake competition is over.. Make some aggressive mistakes that the D can cover for you. If he can't do that because of who is wired as, then Elway needs to spend the money for a proven QB because they can't develop one in house
but I bet they spend the whole week in SF , a week where they can get some great work in , still playing around with the QB and trying to figure out the LG position when they have their LG in Leary.

Feels a lot like last year

And why is the HC calling a TO with 2:01 in the 4th one second before the 2 minute warning. That kind of stupid mistake will lose you games in the NFL. Timeouts are too valuable to waste.

My guess is they were playing flag football in OTAs and the first couple days of camp. Shanahan use to say this all the time. Some players "s**t the bed when the lights come on". Be interesting to find out Shanahan's take on Lynch. Mike seems to be one guy with an eye for a good young QB.

Brian Griese was great last night as our hometown color guy. He explained so many times last night what the QBs were trying to do or did or did not do correctly.

He may have been the best Broncos QB at Soldier Field last night
Lynch, TS, Sanchez, Griese.

I just remembered Elway brought in Mark Sanchez last year and really liked Brandon Weeden coming out of college.

I've often wondeeed why coaches haven't been doing this for quite awhile. It makes sense to me as you run the play and the instant the whistle blows the end of the play the 2:00 minute warning takes place. I would do it.

Your guys 1st team D looked great, as expected. Played a big part in inciting what now looks like a real QB controversy here. lol.

Looks like you guys have mixed feelings overall, but that's to be expected. Trubisky's good play is distracting our fan-base from discussing anything else that transpired last night. They booed him after he was drafted, and now he's the toast of Chicago because of ONE pre-season game.

From the looks of things last night, it looked to me (an outsider) like Siemian has the inside track to the QB job. Lynch has a lot of good tools, but just doesn't seem comfortable out there yet.

Anyway, good luck the rest of the way. If you guys can get a little more consistent production offensively, I think you guys should be back to double digit wins and fighting for the West.

:suds:
