I like how the 76ers have drafted 3rd 3 times in the last 4 years and the Lakers have drafted 2nd 3 times in the last 4 years, but only the 76ers get shit for tanking.

Maybe because the sixers have been tanking for over a decade.... ?

The 76ers have made the playoffs four times in the last 10 years. The Lakers have made the playoffs six times in the last 10 years. Granted, the Lakers won two championships in that span, but the 76ers were not tanking 10 years ago or even five years ago.

Just generally sucked then?

The Lakers had to tank for the horrendous moves the made regarding Dwight and Nash, and due to Kobe's age and injuries.

The best record the sixers had since 2005 was .530 during a shortened lock-out season. They weren't going to do shit and everyone knew it. Now i'm not blaming them for tanking, but don't go pretending the lakers have sucked just as long as the sixers have.

You said the Sixers have been tanking for 10 years ... you were wrong, it's all good.

Of course not -- but intentionally tanking and just flat out sucking are two different things. The 76ers sucked before but not because they wanted to lose. They just sucked. Then the Bynum trade happened and the team traded some of its best players and assets for basically nothing. The only option they really had was to blow it up and start from scratch. The Lakers are a much more successful franchise than the 76ers, but both teams have been tanking for about 4 years. The 76ers a little bit longer but I think somewhere about 4 years ago is when the Lakers realized that Kobe was done and they'd have to rebuild.

What about flipping Okafor for D'Angelo Russell now since the Lakers will most likely take PG Lo Ball at 2? We can even throw in 1 or 2 of our four 2nd round picks if needed.
I'm all for this, but I think Okafor and Randle are too similar for the Lakers to be interested. I also think they could get more value than Okafor for Russell.

I am not moving from that 3rd pick unless it's up to 1. I see 4 guys in this draft with the "potential" to be superstars and they are Fultz, Ball, Jackson and Fox. I see a handful of guys after that with good starter potential, but a drop off from those top 4. I think Jayson Tatum's lack of athleticism and average speed/quickness will limit his ceiling at the pro level. Dennis Smith is close as he has the ability to beat anyone off the dribble and is very explosive, but he doesn't do much on the Defensive end and is inconsistent with his outside game. Isaac and Markkanen are tall guys who can shoot, but they are more solid, complimentary players as opposed to staple guys. Monk can fill it up from outside and has explosive hops, but at a skinny 6'4" with below average D he may be over matched at the 2 once in the pros.

If I had to bet I think the pick will be Josh Jackson who has the tools to play the 2 or the 3 and even some 4 if need be. Really impressed on how he was able to improve his shot as the year went on. That bodes well for continued improvement on that shot as he matures. I also see him developing into an excellent Defensive player with elite athleticism. Simmons will fill up the assist sheet feeding Jackson from the jump.

I like Jackson, but the thing that's scaring me is his FT%. I think there is at least somewhat of a correlation between FT% and outside shot percentage. He's an all-around good player and can play well without the ball, but I am starting to worry that if he doesn't develop a shot, then he'll only be a fringe NBA starter. He's very athletic, but that athleticism doesn't go as far in the NBA.

Isaac isn't a tall guy that can shoot. He has grown quickly and used to be a PG, so he still has good ball handling and a quick step. He seems to have a high basketball IQ and plays well without the ball. I really like the kid as a prospect.

Markkanen is one of my favorite prospects in the draft and think he'd be a great pick if it wasn't for the fact that the Sixers are already too big of a team. Still, I think his shooting can give enough spacing with Embiid to create a lot of problems. I mean, a 7-footer who shot 42% from 3 and 83% from the line isn't something to shrug off as "complimentary".

I am starting to lean towards Fox being the pick. I hate his 3P%, but he shot 74% from the FT line, which makes me think that his horrid 3P% is at least in part because of bad patch during a small sample size. Him and Jackson are pretty close, but Fox is more of a position of need unless the team brings in Lowry or Jrue Holiday.

What has been the problem for Russell in L.A.? Talent, work ethic, attitude, or what?

How about trading PHI18 or PHI19?

Personally, I wouldn't. Until Embiid is playing the majority of games including some back to backs, and we get to actually see Simmons on the court and start to get a handle on where he is best suited to play both offensively and defensively, I'm hesitant to move premium assets for players when we don't even really know what we need.

If a trade would be made with 18 or 19 picks, we can structure the deal as the lower of the 2 picks we have in each year. That would protect us in the lottery. I still wouldn't even think about it until this upcoming trade deadline though.

Obviously that would help as far as roster balance -- but have you guys seen anything from Russell that makes you want him? I don't think he's anything special.

I am a Josh Jackson fan. I think he may turn out to be the best of this class. If Boston takes him, I wonder if the Lakers would grab Fultz at 2, leaving the greatest player ever, according to his dad, Lonzo to us at 3. If that is the case, I get on the phone with Sacramento and try to get their 2 picks. This is a good guard draft. We can get our guard a little further down.

Terrible team chemistry. Terrible team defense.
LaVar Ball to the rescue....

I can pretty much promise you the team chemistry in LA is better than it is in philly. But then again I doubt you know shit about basketball.

I'd be happy with Jackson.

Come on now. How could you possibly promise that?
