Zion Williamson is back from injury (yet again) and playing pretty well. However, he already had to sit out a back end of a back to back, not unusual coming back from injury, but also missed a game for team rules violations.

I think that Zion would be a great addition to the Pistons, creating a pick and roll that would be virtually unstoppable with Cade Cunningham. Sadly, I am no sure he has the discipline to make a move for him worth what it would cost. I just don't know if he cares enough to keep himself in shape to avoid injury and be a team guy.

My question is: Is Zion Williamson the NBA's version of Ricky Williams? An unbelievable talent, but just does not love the game enough to stick it out?

Ricky Williams was born too early.

If he were in his 20’s today, nobody would bat an eyelash that he needs time to address his mental health. And smoke a ton of weed in Australia.

Zion is a future great big fat person.

But can he hold that off until after his playing days, because he has the tools to be an all time great.
Maybe Zion is just eating instead of smoking weed to deal with issues, it can be a coping mechanism.

He’ll cycle through a few times imo.

Always going to be a struggle for him. Until he just doesn’t care anymore.

Hmmm. Don't think this is accurate. Zion's contract is laden with weight and games played clauses. He can literally eat through all his money. He is nowhere near a billionaire. And he played 71 last season. Plus, he is an outlier.

Also, if you miss only 1 game per 15 you are only out 5-6 games a season. I think any team would take that from any player.

He'd be a great addition to any team if he could stay healthy and stay in shape. But I just don't think he's worth what it would likely take to get him...especially when, iirc, he's going to be making $44 million in the final year of his contract and will probably want more.

I think the Pelicans may seriously consider trading him for Ivey and Hardaway's expiring. Losing Ivey would hurt as he was having breakout-like season, but with both Ausar Thompson and Ron Holland looking like they will develop nicely would he be content to come off the bench in a year or two?

Pistons are the type of the team that should 100% take a shot on him right now. Historically, they aren't really a FA destination and now they're starting to get better to where they probably aren't going to have many high lottery picks. So you can buy low on a guy that has superstar potential and if the busts, so what. The contract isn't crippling because of the lack of guaranteed money.

This is my thinking exactly.
Maybe just a change of venue will help Williamson's career as well.

I have a friend that had to work in Japan for 3 months and lost 40 lb because they didn’t like the food. That’s what Zion needs.

Zion made it known he was not happy going to New Orleans when drafted so this makes sense

He'd be playing in an arena that is named after a pizza franchise, so I don't know Detroit would work that way.

Might be difficult to find a food that he doesn't like.
Yeah but I doubt he eats broccoli. If he orders hibachi he is the guy that orders double rice and double steak, hold the veggies. And if they don’t hold the veggies he throws a fit
