Happy with the pick. I heard that part of the reason the Lakers liked him so much is that they actually pulled a fast one on him and he adjusted well.

Apparently, he thought he was coming in for an individual workout and the Lakers surprised him by bringing in Madsen and couple of other guys and having him workout against them individually and then in 2 on 2. Mitch said he was taken aback a little, but when he figured out what was going on, he got very, very competitive and really had a strong showing.

Mitch also said the Lakers don't really have much concern about his foot.

The kid is an absolute beast. I like what he said "Those teams that didn't pick me are going to regret it" :10:

Actually one of his biggest strengths was defense. Long arms, quick, shot blocking defender is how ESPN describes him.

I'll meet you half way. I watched a mock on NBA tv this afternoon and they mentioned defense as a liabilty, I believe were their words.

NBA.net says his length makes him a shot blocking force, but needs to play defense more with his feet than his hands, which landed him in foul trouble at times.

Either way, I wanted Randle, however, don't think we could've gone wrong with either guy. :suds:

I would rather have traded the pick... Is he better than Jordan Hill...? If so, let Hill go, if not it's a wasted opportunity IMO... I respect the overall opinion and think he'll be a nice player going forward... But Kobe has 2 years left... We signed him at a huge price... What is the plan, because Kobe Nash and Randle isn't going to get it done... I think many of you are just excited about getting a new toy... Last person that lead a team to a ring as a rookie is the last one that will...:noidea:

He's a free player basically. And a damn good one.

I'm sure Mitch is working his magic to get some high quality FAs

Jordan Hill is a center. Randle is a Power Forward. Hill and Randle would compliment each other.

I think now that they have Randle it is Gasol that is going to be signed and traded. Hopefully for a first round pick next year.

I hope so... I know he's basically a free player but he was leverage IMO... As you said Mitch has made some great moves, my only hesitation in being excited about the pick is that little Buss might be messing us up... If there isn't anybody in the works and all we get out of this offseason is Randle, I'll be very upset...

Call me Debbie downer - but I have a hard time feeling excited about this. We basically tanked the entire season so that we could draft a PF who is undersized and shoots 17% from field on jump shots.

That's right - 17%. The worst I have ever heard of.

As a big UK fan, I can tell you you got a super player and a fantastic kid. I watched every game this kid played in college, and he is an unselfish double double machine. A lot was made of his lack of an off hand dribble, but this kid was double teamed every time he got the ball, and was still dominant. By his 3rd year, as his game develops, he will be an 18/10 guy. Great pick

We already had an 18/10 guy at PF. So now, if we wait 3 years, after Kobe is gone, then we may have a shorter worse shooting version of what we already had. :yahoo:

The 18/10 guy we had at PF earned $20m a year and is 33 years old.

And his jumper doesn't look too bad to me:

In fact, it looks pretty damn good!
