If the Pens stay healthy, I like our chances. Thinking about the squad we had last year before the injuries is just epic, and it's about the same this coming year. Although, I really like the way the Kings look out West.

West: 1. Kings 2. Nucks 3. Wings
East: 1. Caps 2. Wings 3. Bruins

Damn, I really thought the Wings were good, maybe not good enough to advance in the East and West, but I could be wrong.

Maybe insert the Penguins there in the East and call it a day?

Maybe P66 has some inside knowledge about the new realignment that the rest of us do not. ;)

Splitting the team in half is an interesting route. I wasn't expecting that to happen!

SF going with the only oddball pick in the East... Guess its not really too farfetched. They were pretty nasty towards the end of last season.

Yeah, but I think we may be underestimating the Canucks.

Oh, the East...

I picked a possible Nucks outcome. But I truly think Cali will be having a team in the finals, most likely the Kings.

In the East. If Crosby and Malkin both stay healthy, very likely we see those fucking fairies in the finals again ;). But I truly believe our squad has what it takes to at least make it to the Final again, and Buffalo is going to be one hell of a threat. I also believe the Caps have what it takes now, you can only fail for so long.

In the East... Seeded 1-4 in no order I see Bruins, Penguins, Capitals, Sabres... I can see the Islanders or Panthers sneaking into the Eight spot this year.

The Bruins are tough for me. They don't have the 'superstar' forward status, but they have heart. When the playoffs started, I couldn't stand them. They really impressed me. It wasn't even just the Tim Thomas story.

To me, they're still the underdog even though they were the best in the world last season. Funny how that works.

I kind of got the opposite impression from the Canucks last season. When Daniel Sedin (a captain) backed off of his Game 7 'guarantee', I thought that he embarrassed his team and showed me that they didn't have that drive needed to win. No offense to Canucks fans or Sedin fans, it was just an interesting moment.

I agree with this, but I'm obviously a bit biased.

He's not new this year, but Roy was a PPG player last year until he got seriously injured. Stafford was paced for 40+, but only played around 60 games because of injury. They're not as small as people generally think either. Obviously Gerbe is a munchkin, and Ennis and Roy are small too, but they've got some grit in guys like Gaustad and McCormick, not to mention some guys in the system who could see NHL time this year, like Kassian.

Again, a but biased, but I think the Sabres reputation immediately after the lockout when they were a small team purely focused on speed and finesse is still holding on a bit despite not being totally fair anymore.

All that said, I still don't think this year is their year.

I'm not saying they will win the cup but I agree with your post. This team does have some small forwards but they also have enough guy's that can take care of business when needed.

Roy was the Sabres MVP before he got hurt and I think there are a lot of people that under estimate him. He was having a career season before the injury and your point about Stafford is also well taken.

They finally have a proven very good back-up goalie to give Miller a break as well. This was a major problem before the second half of last season for a long time.

Also (i havent read all of the post yet) but until yours a few people have mentioned how much better the defense is with the new additions and lets not forget they have a guy named Myers on the back end already.

Their depeth in the farm team is pretty damn solid too and we all know teams have injuries. Granati, Ellis, Adam, Kassian, Kotalik will probably start down with the Amerks.

Maybe not a Cup winner yet but definately not a push over.

Edit: also the Sabers won the season series against the Bruins last year and it's safe to say the Sabres have improved quite a bit. I have a lot of repesct for the Bruins but I don't think the Sabres are on their (I would want to play them in the playoffs) list.

Just my 2 cents.
