Totally forgot about Regher too.

I see them in the second round though. Up front they still don't have it. It would surprise me to see them make it the the ECF.

I got BOS, PIT and WAS as the top 3 from the east. With PHI being a huge wild card.

West SJS, VAN, LA with ANA possibly sneaking in (with a healthy Hiller)

i think in the east Buff can get by at least to the ECF on their D and goalie. forwards are still a question mark but the new owner I believe will have your GM address that come deadline. going to be interesting to watch them a Canucks vs Sabres Final would be epic (and my Dream Final)... let both teams wear 70s unis :)

Teams like Boston and Philly will beat the shit out of the smaller forwards that Buffalo has. They will need to get bigger in order to make it IMO.

I don't think Buffalo could beat Boston, Washington, Pittsburgh or Philly in a 7 game series this year.

I'm in the same boat about not being a true believer in Buffalo. Love the club, but I can't rank them over Wash, Bos, Pit or Phi. Buffalo usually plays well against Philly, so that may be an advantage in the playoffs, but Miller has had his trouble against Pittsburgh and Washington. Boston has Thomas and we know how those games would just be outright duels. As with any contender, drawing the right opponent is half the work.

As of right now, before the season starts, I got Buffalo ahead of Philly. Miller is proven... Philly is a whole new team now, we have no idea how that combo is going to mesh.

I feel safe in assuming that Miller is strong enough to get through the playoffs, especially after the Olympics. Sure, he gave up a softy in OT, but I don't think that was nerves.

I don't think they will make the cup, but I absolutely love the fact that the Devils aren't on anyone's radar. As for the picks, Boston, Philly and Pitt are the favorites in the East in my opinion. Sharks, Canucks and I can't sleep on Detroit out west.

At least I'm not the only one that doesn't feel all the love for Buffalo.

Trade Kovalchuk for someone that will do something in the playoffs, then people will start talking about the Devils being a threat ;)

Or someone that will get them to the playoffs... He's been there what, like twice?

Kovalchuk only has been on the winning side of a playoff game once.

i really think its more of the pens and caps are the top 2 in the east.. then you take a few steps down.. JMO..

i could see the caps having the #1 GAA this year, without a doubt.. on a team that has OV, semin, and backstrom.. thats just freakin dangerous.

obviously the pens did so well without cros/malkin, adding them is ridicluous

the sabres offense isn't getting much love on here.. vanek (injured for a lot of last year), gaustad, pominville, boyes, leino, roy, gerbe.. they definitely have talent up front..

What are your top 3 picks for possible Stanley Cup Final match-ups in the 2011-2012 season?

I'll put my homerism aside for my first pick...

1. Buffalo Sabres vs. Los Angeles Kings
2. Boston Bruins vs. Vancouver Canucks (just cause that would be epic)
3. Washington Capitals vs. Los Angeles Kings

Fuck you!

I dont agree with any of them actually. not even my team. I dont see either of our teams making it out of the second round with the way the teams around them got better and we are coming off a 2 month epic war.

1. Pittsburgh Penguins vs San Jose Sharks - Winner Pittsburgh Penguins
2. Pittsburgh Penguins vs Detroit Red Wings - Winner Pittsburgh Penguins
3. Philadelphia Flyers vs San Jose Sharks - Winner San Jose Sharks

not sure if the rules apply I can pick same teams in different Scenarios. if its not Pitts in the Final from the East it will be Philly IMO

Fuck you!

1) Washington vs. San Jose
2) Pittsburgh vs. Detroit (would it really be a surprise at this point?)
3) Tampa Bay vs. Vancouver

You're cool.

Flyers vs Kings -(like I would say otherwise)
Bruins vs Kings
Sabres vs Kings

Obviously,I think this is the Kings year for the west.
I think it will be a great year for excitement in the east ( as usual),with lots of contenders.

Fuck you!

Pens
Caps
Sabres

Kings
Canucks
Sharks

Mix em and match em hwoever you want, but i think those are the top 3 teams in each conference, in order

Fuck you!

I agree with this, but I'm obviously a bit biased.

He's not new this year, but Roy was a PPG player last year until he got seriously injured. Stafford was paced for 40+, but only played around 60 games because of injury. They're not as small as people generally think either. Obviously Gerbe is a munchkin, and Ennis and Roy are small too, but they've got some grit in guys like Gaustad and McCormick, not to mention some guys in the system who could see NHL time this year, like Kassian.

Again, a but biased, but I think the Sabres reputation immediately after the lockout when they were a small team purely focused on speed and finesse is still holding on a bit despite not being totally fair anymore.

All that said, I still don't think this year is their year.

east--1. washington. 2. pittsburgh 3. tampa

west--1. los angeles. 2. detroit. 3. vancouver

really wanted to put det #1 in the west, but i figured that might be too homerish. anyway, i always think detroit will win the west, so what the fuck do i know.
