I do too...The fact that they let Moreno walk for pennies though should show the confidence they have in Ball to get the job done and how much they think Moreno was more a product of the system than anything else.

If you look at Manning and all the RB's he has played with they have all been pretty darn productive. He opens up the run game quite a bit with teams focusing so much on the pass game. Throw in Manning reads defenses better than anybody and knows when there is a great opportunity to run the ball on a defense with great success.

There's alotta excitement here for the upcoming season. Even die-hard Broncoholics are pumped-up over the preseason. Don't really remember that happening in the nearly 5 years that I have lived in this tiny over crowded shoebox called Boulder.

If not "stupid", some of the predictions do at least seem aimed at "trolling" readers (e.g., the prediction that RG3 is benched by Week 6). Given that trolling on message boards so frequently generates interest among readers, I guess it shouldn't be too surprising that a journalist might use that same method.

1-3 are literally the opposite of what sharps are saying...but I think the main goal is to get as many people interested and fired up in the NFL and that is probably their last chance with those teams.

1-9 meh...10 though...that is probably a lock.

Some of them strike me as very unlikely. For example, I don't expect SD to win the AFCW, nor do I expect RG3 to get benched by Week 6.

To clarify he said RG3 will be on the bench do to injury not benched because of performance.

And given RG3's history it's not all that bold of a prediction.

You are right that he does predict that Griffin is injured by Week 6, but I still don't think that prediction is right. Then again, I have never predicted that a player would get hurt.

Here are 10 bold predictions from Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports (don't recall ever hearing of him):
Bold NFL Predictions for 2014: Chargers will win the AFC West - CBSSports.com

Some of them strike me as very unlikely. For example, I don't expect SD to win the AFCW, nor do I expect RG3 to get benched by Week 6.

A couple that seem reasonable to me are TN winning ten games and Steve Smith catching at least 80 passes for 1,000 yards in Baltimore.

Perhaps the funniest, and most likely, prediction on the list is that Manziel shoots the bird at least twice during the regular season.
Simple question ,did you come from CBS to SportsHoopla? I have often wondered why so many posters who were at ESPN still get their info there and post it on a daily basis.

I'm buying into some of it, but I really don't see the Chargers displacing the Broncos for the West title.

I don't know, the way he looked last year and so far this year, this is a real outside possibility in my view. Cousins has looked much better. Hell even McCoy looked better.

You must have missed the fact that Cousins threw a pick (but got better afterwards) & McCoy threw a Pick 6 & the fact that both of them were playing against scrubs for the most part. Cousins is always going to be turnover prone - something to consider.

RG3 may have some issues but let's not misrepresent the facts.

The NFC South is not going to be so weak that any team finishes 2nd with a losing record. I wonder if the author realizes that even though Carolina went 12-4 last year, Cam Newton was the 5th most sacked QB in the NFL? And that the Panthers OL is returning 4 starters from last year? Not all at the same position, but they all have starting experience.

As for Steve Smith, I don't see 1,000 yards. 850-950 yards yes. The problem is not his pass catching ability though, it will be because his QB sucks.

If he does, he'll be shooting it from the bench.

I am also skeptical of both the prediction that Carolina wins only seven games and that seven wins is good enough to finish second in the NFCS. I know that Carolina basically turned over its entire WR corp, which is pretty unconventional, but between their defense and their run game, I'd be surprised if they win only seven games.

You could also easily be right that Smith falls short of 1,000 yards in Baltimore and gets only around 850 to 900 yards. I guess that would make the 1,000 yard prediction 100% wrong, but Smith would still get between 85% and 90% of the predicted yardage. Sort of an interval estimate versus a point estimate type of thing.

Perhaps, but I don't think it's too bold to predict that at some point in this season Manziel starts a game.

The defense alone in my opinion is worth 7 wins for the Panthers. Cam is showing he can carry the offense if needed so there is at least another couple of wins. I do think right now New Orleans is looking like the cream of the crop for the NFC South but Carolina isn't just going to go quietly into the night either. I also like what Tampa Bay has done in the off season. Atlanta is probably the one team I just don't see having a good year at all.

I think CAR takes a step back...but imo that's no slight...12-4 is very strong...but 7-9? I like Benjamin, and think he will be a player, but don't think you can turnover the WR corp and expect the OFC to play at the same level so I expect Olsen to get a lot of targets on 3rd down, and the running game to be front and center...they can ride that DEF though...Tough schedule so imo 7-9 is not a shock, but I agree it won't be good enough for 2nd.

Smith...lot of pride...whatever game he has left will be left on the field...doubtful he goes for 80/1000...Flacco has Pitta back...lot of targets...Smith is not that tall and Flacco likes to throw it high...especially when under pressure.

Interesting point. I'm not sure that it will persist, however. I expect the Baltimore offense to look very different with Kubiak as the OC this year.

Maybe, but under pressure you do what is most comfortable...Flacco struggled without Pitta between the hash marks, and not having that big WR (Boldin) willing to go over the middle or sit in front of the LB/S zone gaps.

Smith will go over the middle, but best along the sidelines and he can still sneak and get deep...I expect BAL OFC to be very similar, but better...establish the run to make you respect playaction, challenge you deep with Torrey Smith and on 3rd down Pitta...Kubiak may effect the sequence of how they call the plays, but they won't be radically different.
