I've actually seen Letter's to Cleo back in the mid 90s. It was them, Sponge, and Ned's Atomic Dustbin if I recall.

You get no argument from me. That said, I kind of doubt that Goldschmidt will win, as MVP voters favors winners vs. losers, and the D-Backs would have lost just fine without him, and did not win with him, so...?

I am sure you are right on Goldschmidt. That is just not how I would vote. I am not a believer in the MVP has to come from a playoff team edict.

A guy can't help who his teammates are, and how they perform. All he can do is go out and do the best he can day in and day out. For me, that was Goldschmidt.

Chris Davis has the edge on home runs and strikeouts.

Sorry but Miggy is much better. the others i can agree.

Again, I will agree as that is how the vote will likley go.

Miggy is the better player, but I think what Davis is doing this season is special in its own right. Davis has the lower OPS, but Davis is even in runs; has 2 fewer RBI; 7 more Hr's; and 15 more doubles.

Miggy's edge in OPS is due to the difference in average: .350 to .293.

Another way I look at it is if Goldschmidt was on the Pirates, they might actually be in 1st place. Of course, that cannot be proven, which is why I like going with the guy having the better season as an overall rule.

Baltimore and Tampa play 3 games this weekend. As long as one team doesn't sweep, the division is ours. And, we get to play Toronto and Colorado.

Go buy your playoff tickets with good conscience.

After taking out a 3rd mortgage to pay for them, and all the food & swag that is necessary to buy in a situation like this.

Os are behind u If u rely on others to win u dont deserve to go to post season Just win your games and it will all work out easiest schedule of anybody should help:suds:

"I get by with a little help from my friends..." - Paul McCartney :suds:

Maybe we dont deserve a WC. Even if we win the majority (pipe dream) we cant get to the dance unless Rays, Rangers, Os - even KC & Yanks to a degree - lose more than they win

My, how the game has changed.......

It was on this date back in 1929 that Joe Sewell sets a major league record by playing in his 115th consecutive game without striking out. The Indian third baseman will be fanned only four times in 578-at-bats this season.

4 times. Not 200, but 4.

Wasn't just hitting slap singles etc. OPS of .800 with .315 avg.

He never struck out more than 9 times in a season from 1925 to 1933 with an avg of over 600 PA

I remember that like it was yesterday....a little heartbroken but not surprised at the outcome. Said to my old lady 'if the series goes back to Boson, we're dead'. One of those bad premonitions that actually come true

And you think you may have had a bad day/week/month/life...........

There are a number of things that can sometimes hold up a wedding ceremony; the bride taking a little too long with her preparations, late arriving guests, or maybe a nervous groom showing up late to the ceremony.

For one unfortunate British couple it was something beyond anyone's imagination.
According to a British paper, the couple's special day was delayed after a bleeding man who had just 'hacked' off his testicles stormed into the church.

The Brentwood Weekly News reports final preparations for the big day were being made inside All Saints Church in Essex, England when the disturbed man stormed in, leaving a large trail of blood as he picked up and threw chairs around.

Witnesses to the bizarre incident say the man had apparently mutilated himself with a pair of scissors before entering the church. Emergency personnel took the man to the hospital for treatment and he has since been sent for a mental evaluation.

Despite the chaos and bloody scene, the wedding was able to go on just a half-hour late according to attendees. Whoever cleaned up the mess did quite a job according to a witness, "The bride didn't know anything about it, I'm sure she does now."

The Pirates are thumping the Padres, 6-1, bottom 4th.

Nice to see I picked the right streaming pitcher today in Gerrit Cole.
