If he slipped to 2nd round where we were drafting? Fuck yes. I'd select him and have him and Murray battle it out for the starting job.
Murray is a legit top 10 running back as far as I can tell. Id imagine a team like Oakland would trade the pick if Fournette was somehow still up.No. Here's why......we don't need to spend our first rounder on a RB. We need to spend it on a defender, either a CB, DL or a S. Murray is a decent RB and we have Washington and Richard who are nice scatback types.
I would take him on the Chiefs and RB probably isnt a top 3 need.
The 2 differences between him and Clowney is that
1) Clowney was legitimately challenged by Khalil Mack and Fournette should be the clear #1 RB.
2) RB just isnt as valuable as an edge rusher
But definitely a 1st round pick.

I wouldn't spend a first round pick on a running back in the NFL anymore. They just aren't the game changes they once were, and few last long enough to warrant a #1 draft choice.

Footballoutsiders has him ranked 3rd, 6th or 8th in the league right now depending on which metric you want to use. He certainly passes the eyeball test, too.Latavius Murray is a middle of the road RB that will do his job.
Alvin Karmara might be pretty good, too. McCaffrey has a shot as well.Fournette is far from being the clear #1 RB.
D'Onta Foreman and Dalvin Cook are certainly very solid options for teams.
Unless the Packers draft this kid it's going to be very hard to root for him at the next level.
The Packers o line has been in the top third of the league this season. I just look forward to the NFL humbling his ass.Isn't Fournette injury prone? I hope he gets drafted by a team with a good O-line.

Its a very good running back draft but I do think Fournette is picked at least 10 spots before the next RB.
Spot on.
And people complain that we don't have enough teams in a playoff, yet argue out of the side of their mouth that players need to play less games to keep them safe for their professional career.
Which is it?![]()
Good comment, but don't forget that any good running back needs a good O-line. A running back is only as good as his O-line.I've seen guys with all sorts of talent, who are only in it for the money. They stink for a while, have a decent season a year ahead of time, have a career year when they are going to be a FA, and then disappear again. I've also seen guys who weren't that talented but wanted to play and wanted to win more than the other guys. They're the guys leading teams to the playoffs every year.
Maybe RB is different, because you don't get better, nobody learns and turns them self into a great player. It tends to be a position where you're born with it, or you're not. And Fournette was born with it.
So I can see both sides of it, but I sure as hell won't be excited for him.
Murray runs the ball well where you need to run the ball well.Eyeball test?
Murray is 20th in the league in rushing yards and his 4.0 yards a carry is below mediocrity in the league. He is a stop gap "nice" player. Far from great, far from walking on the street.
I see him play. NFL teams see him play. He is of zero concern. Teams don't game plan anything around Murray. He is an everyday average joe in the NFL.
If I were the Raiders, I'd take Cook. And I'd move up to get him.
If his team was in a playoff to compete for a national title my opinion would be different. He needs to play. But the Citrus Bowl is an exhibition game. Plain and simple
If the Citrus Bowl is just an exhibition game, then why did LSU accept the invitation? Maybe the whole team should sit out.If his team was in a playoff to compete for a national title my opinion would be different. He needs to play. But the Citrus Bowl is an exhibition game. Plain and simple
