Well, your not gonna get Rodgers brees or manning with those WRs, TE...

But i would be happy with Jay cutler as my number one and McCown as my 2...

in fact that is my plan on QB... Cutler is going to be huge as long as he is healthy... I mean he does have marshall and alshon... and by the time he goes down, McCown should be Loving his TB WRs...

of course i would rather have Ryan, Kaep, than cutler but not sure if i want to pay for them in the 5th,6th round, when Cutler is so similar when healthy...

I'm not sold on McCown. He is 35 for one and played in a Trestman system last year. Lovie is no QB guy and TB's defense first philosophy is not going to bode well for McCown. Teams play with a sense of urgency.

Nobody is going to endorse him as a number one... But for a backup he is very attractive, TB may have one of the better offenses in football by the end of the season... Then again, they might also have one of the worst offenses in football..

Shockingly, I agree. The more I hear coming out of camp, the more I hear on ESPN radio and the NFL network, ect..the more I'm beginning to think McCown was signed as nothing more than a mentor, possible placeholder until Glennon is truly ready. And if MCCown keeps getting outplayed in preseason, that time might come sooner than later
It's real easy to look good in a small sample size, in that system, throwing to the twin towers.
Honestly wouldn't shock me if McCown is on clipboard duties after the week 7 bye, if not earlier

I would love to see a successful NO RB strategy draft... They have been talking about the strategy non stop on the Fantasy football shows on Sirius radio... Just would like to see the RBs they were able to get doing this strategy...

Just tried it in a mock a couple of times...............wasn't very successful. I guess the closest I've ever been to doing that was last year in the Suicide League where I went WR/WR but just had to take Demarco and Gore the next time around.

I can only assume your attempting to use this as evidence that you need an elite QB..2 things..#1..you can't depend on an NFL record setting performance form ANY QB..it's just not a realistic expectation..that's why they're records, it's kinda hard to duplicate.
Second..check out the scores of the rest of his team..you put Brees or Rodgers score form that week in instead of Manning's, and the result is a loss.
When your entire team depends on 40 pts a week from a QB because the rest of your team suffered form you taking a QB so early, your living on the edge. Give Me a team full of guys that are consistent 8-12 and a QB that hovers around 20-ish, and I'll beat your 40pt QB, with zeros at TE and WR more weeks than not.

The loser had more RB points, 53 overall. The winner had 40. Manning was the difference.

Guess I misread the score..................thought his D scored 0 points......................O'd say his D beating the other teams D by almost 19 points had a little to do with it too

If I'm in prime position to grab AP or JC then I may keep Bell. But if I am picking late first where I may not have a surefire number 1 back well I can get to solid ones before two receivers. Patterson, Fitzgerald, Crabtree, Jackson should be among the available receivers in that range. The league's not that tough. And I want Cooks and if no one wants him, I'm taking the chance at Rice. I'll load up on backups late. 6 RBs and 4 WRs. I'll post the draft results tomorrow.

He won 119 to 97. 18 points more on defense and 29 more on QB. Dalton was the only other QB that had a big week that week.

This is good, but you are still locking in on Ray Rice. Locking in on a player leads to reaching, and that too is a very bad habit. If the value is right in round 5 or 6, then by all means take him, but remain flexible. There may be someone better. Thing is, you don't need Ray Rice to win. There are a lot of guys in that range who can help you.

I played in 4 leagues last year (not counting suicide because that is different), and the league winning QBs were:

Brady/Cousins
Newton
Brees
Foles

Notice how none of those teams had Manning despite his awesome season and only 1 had an "elite" QB. You need balance to win.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

Excellent point.

Don't forget that the NFL set all kinds of TD and scoring records in 2013. A reasonable person may temper their expectations for 2014 since it's unlikely to happen again.

I posted on another thread about the best value at each position year by year.

Last year it was the QB position, and Manning, by a dominant margin. The year before it was not Manning, and Manning wasn't even close. It wasn't even a QB, it was AP. In fact, last year was the only year in the last five that the dominant fantasy player was a QB. (Peyton in 2013, AP in 2012, Gronk in 2011, Foster in 2010, CJ2K in 2009.)

Interestingly, the dominant player never had a first-round ADP....

just did a mock draft using the zero RB strategy... It was a yahoo league with no flex...

Waited until the 5th round to get my first RB(after drafting my 3 WR and TE I went WR,WR,TE,WR)

I drafted Trent richardson and Chris Johnson with pierre thomas, Lamar miller and andre williams on the bench... I am very content with that...
