That is the question that was raised a few days ago by Nevada sports writer Chris Murray. And it IS a valid question as San Jose State - statistically speaking - is literally the very worst team in the Mtn West (remember former Boise State A.D. Gene Bleymeier is San Jose State's A.D. and has been for quite a while now).

I say yes.........get rid of San Jose State..............BUT............if you're going to get rid of San Jose State you might just as well get rid of Hawaii as well. The cost of travel to and from Hawaii is extreme for EVERY other team in the Mtn. West.

I say............shrink the Mtn West back down to 10 teams. Stick with the two divisions (Mountain and West). Play ALL of the other 9 teams in the conference, i.e., 9 conference football games every year. OR play 8 conference games and leave ONE of the five teams in the division your school is NOT in off the schedule for two years, i.e., rotate those five other division schedules thru a ten year period.
