Not quite yet. They resumed negotiations over the last couple of weeks and from the sound of things both sides are pretty happy with where things are and have patched up any damage done to the relationship between the Broncos and Von Miller during these negotiations. Unfortunately with how these things go he still might not sign until the deadline.

A couple of reasons for this

1) I'm sure the two sides have dug back in a bit and are hoping the deadline spurs the other side to raise the price just a bit more but in the end they still get something done.

2) Now it might only be a little in NFL terms but the longer that guaranteed money sits in the Broncos bank account the more interest they collect on it. So it actually does make sense at this point to wait even just a few days if you know something is going to get done.

Now I would love if they just got it done now anyway but my guess is Friday Von Miller is locked up long-term by the Broncos.

There was really no reason for Elway to spend the extra $20 mil or whatever the gap is until they absolutely had to...Just posturing for Bowlen.

As each day goes on and he's not signed you got to believe teams are preparing offers for Miller. Still think Denver keeps him though.

These mega-deals for franchise tagged players always go down to the wire. Nothing new here, just more fodder for the NFL "dead-season". Look for the breaking news story that Von Miller signs the biggest contract ever for a defensive player sometime late Thursday or early Friday morning. This deal will get done.

That is an option but he wants like 25-30mil per yr, and John knows he ain't worth it...:pop2:

Oldschool not sure where you get your facts from but you might want to start looking elsewhere. The Broncos and Von Miller's camp have already agreed on the length and overall dollars of the contract. The only issue left to solve was/is the guaranteed money. They have agreed to a 6-year/$114.5 million contract. Just puts him above Suh for the top money of a defensive player and puts him at $19.1 million per year well below the $22.13 million that Flacco is getting per year.

This is exactly what was said last night on NFL Network. The fact that everything is silent right now means the two sides are very serious about getting this done otherwise they would be using the media to push the contract or a trade at this point. The deal will get done.

Don't know where you got yours from but the nfl channel is reporting that the guaranteed money was boosted from 58m to 61m and payable by 2017 instead of 2018....But Miller wants 70m+ guaranteed and I presume paid by 2017....
And Joe is not counting 22m against the cap, he got 40m up front so I'm sure that's inaccurate.
Don't care though, we are setting pretty good with the cap either way....

You're wrong. Here are Flacco's cap numbers through the end of his contract.
  • 2016 - $22.55 million
  • 2017 - $24.55 million
  • 2018 - $24.75 million
  • 2019 - $26.5 million
  • 2020 - $28.25 million
  • 2021 - $24.25 million

Flacco 2016 Cap Hit $22,550,000. FYI the up front bonus money is spread over five years.

I was commenting on you saying he is wanting more than Joe Flacco which is just not true. The two sides have already agreed on $114.5 million over 6-years. That part is set. It is the guaranteed that they are disagreeing on. Yes he wants $70 million but just because he gets that doesn't mean it all counts against the cap in just the first 3-years. In fact last I read the Signing Bonus was around $21-25 million. That is spread over 5-years of the contract. So while he would get all of that day 1 it doesn't mean it all counts against the cap day 1.

And like 6482 posted above those are his cap hits. So I was actually off as that number for his average was including the 2015 season that his cap hit was only $14.5 million. So we are looking at around $25 million being the actual average over the next 6 years of the contract for Joe Flacco.

I think you're wrong, Joe carried a 40mil check down to the BBall court to show his team mates...
But I am a long way from Cap expert, all I know about it is that it has left us setting good cap wise according to all our reports...

You have a little wishful thinking going on here.

Oldfool is too stupid to figure that out. These are awfully big numbers compared to the 2+2 stuff he is learning right now.

Come on, man, I literally posted a link with his cap breakdown for the rest of his contract. :L

So you admit that you don't know what you are talking about yet continue to try and argue your point? Hmmm

The cap is projected to be at over $200mil two years from now. That's what...a $45 mil increase over 2016? Flacco's numbers aren't changing.

No, he won't be traded this season. Denver couldn't receive enough value for him & teams wouldn't have enough time to get an extension done.

Miller is not going to sit out. This notion is laughable. He would lose $14 mil & take a year off his career. It would take a long time to make up for that loss of money over his career.

A deal will get done.

The cap is not going to $200 mil in two years. Around $180 mil is the likely number.
